JobSummary

TheAviation Support Operations Managersupervises all aspects of fixed and rotary-wing Flight Operations. Manages and coordinates the efforts of all Aviation Support Operations Supervisors and employees to provide the necessary flight support to all contract personnel across the AOR.

  • Principal Accountabilities *

    • Provide direct supervision of all Aviation Support Operations Supervisors
    • Manage the execution of all rotary and fixed wing flights across the AOR
    • Prepare, disseminate, and brief the daily flight information to senior leadership and key leaders across the program
    • Facilitate the coordination between Aviation Movement Control, Aviation Operations, and the sub-contractors to transport personnel and cargo
    • Direct the establishment of the daily flight schedule to support manifest requirements for movement of personnel and cargo
    • Work directly with sub-contractors to ensure adequate assets are available to perform the daily missions
    • Interpret weather reports and briefs senior management on impact upon Aviation Operations
    • Maintain functional files of program data as relates to Aviation Support Operations
    • Primary liaison with military authorities to de-conflict, coordinate, and execute Aviation Operations
    • Review, consolidate, and prepare technical reports
    • Oversee the operational and administrative requirements to facilitate the air movement of personnel and cargo
    • Plan, coordinate, and supervise activities pertaining to organization, training, operations, and intelligence
    • Primary Point of Contact with Base Operations for any issues (construction, quiet hours, etc) that may affect airfield usage
    • Maintain current file on aircraft flying regulations and navigation information, such as Army, Department of Defense, Federal Aviation Administration regulations, Department of Defense flight information publications and aeronautical charts as needed
    • Manage and approve the departments timesheet reporting requirements and R&R requests
    • Make decisions on how to best serve the customer when faced with competing priorities
    • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Knowledge & Skills *

    • Knowledge of foreign and U.S. military aircraft, military aviation flight operations or equivalent, and maintenance procedures is highly desirable
    • Ability to manage and communicate with individuals (military and civilian) from diverse cultural, ethnic and geographical backgrounds
    • Attention to detail and ability to handle or delegate multiple tasks independently in a fast paced, high stress environment
    • Flexibility to think outside the box and derive creative solutions when the initial plan cannot be executed
    • Skill in analyzing, planning, and adjusting work operations to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources
    • Ability to represent the department and interact with senior leadership on a routine basis
    • Demonstrative knowledge and understanding of military style movement; rotary preferred
    • Must be proficient with MS Office and Windows operating systems
    • Ability to read, write, and interpret technical data is required in English
    • Individual must be a self-starter who can operate with periods of time without direct supervision
  • Experience & Education *

    • Minimum eight (8) years of operational experience required
    • Associates Degree required; Bachelors Degree desired.
    • Equivalent, qualified experience may be substituted for education on a case by case basis
    • Knowledge of foreign and U.S. military and civilian aircraft, military aviation movement control or equivalent highly desirable
  • Physical Requirements/Working Environment *

    • Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
    • Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
    • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
  • Travel *

    • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
