Job Summary

TheEnv/Health/Safety Mgr Sris responsible for assisting the EHS Director, the Legal Department, and company safety personnel in implementing corporate EHS strategies and compliance initiatives that support the Company's business strategies and activities. All related activities are designed to establish a company safety culture that drives regulatory compliance, increased employee involvement and sustainable results.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Identify and eliminate EHS hazards and risks and reduce the related costs.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in EHS and Risk Management relational databases and Microsoft applications in order to analyze data, identify trends and prepare reports and presentations from the data.

  • Develop, review, and maintain internal safety policies and procedures and ensure they are current, comply with all applicable laws and regulations, and comport with industry best practices.

  • Implement site-specific policies and procedures as appropriate.

  • Conduct accident investigations to determine root cause and necessary corrective actions for sustainable results.

  • Develop and implement policies and practices to identify and mitigate hazardous conditions.

  • Conduct hazard and risk assessments and develops new or, where necessary, makes recommendations to amend, safety policies and procedures.

  • Serve as a member of the corporate EHS/RM audit team as a Subject Matter Expect.

  • Promote environmental, health and safety awareness through continuous and timely EHS communications.

  • Develop and deliver training programs related to OSHA, EPA and customer regulations and requirements.

  • Administer the accident investigation program to prevent recurrence of incidents and to ensure information on incidents is shared adequately across all programs.

  • Conduct on-site reviews and audits of high risk programs in both CONUS & OCONUS locations.

  • Actively participate in the scheduling of safety meetings across all Programs to review safety performance.

  • Provide written reports, as well as other EHS-related results and updates, to senior management periodically to appraise the staff of critical issues or as requested.

  • Ensure environmental health and safety programs conform to established DI standards, applicable regulatory requirements, and customer specifications, thereby achieving high customer satisfaction levels.

  • Monitor and assist operations in the enforcement of health and safety regulations.

  • Facilitate incident investigations, root cause analysis, site remediation, and closure of corrective actions.

  • Assist appropriate Legal Department attorneys with investigations and response to administrative complaints.

  • Identify, share and assist in communicating and institutionalizing EHS Best Practices.

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert advisor regarding EHS contractual SOW/PWS requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to communicate solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Effective leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications, including MS Project, and working experience with spreadsheets.

  • Experience in managing OSHA VPP, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ANSI Z10 and other EHS initiatives desirable.

  • Strong training and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in planning and conducting industrial hygiene evaluations.

  • Experience working with hazardous waste management.

  • Evaluate current and emerging technical and professional aspects of this position for professional development.

  • Green Belt trained and certified in Lean Six Sigma (LSS) techniques.

  • Active participation in a recognized EHS trade association (ASSE, NSC, AIHA, etc.).

  • Knowledge of the functions and operations of major U.S. Military Commands.

    Experience & Education

  • Bachelor's degree in an associated discipline; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum of Ten years related experience with at least three years at manager level or above; Military contracting experience is highly preferred

  • Professional certifications as CSP or CIH (Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygienist) preferred.

  • Detailed working knowledge or OSHA, EPA, NRC, NFPA, and DoD/Army safety regulations and requirements.

  • Familiarization with USCG and Joint Commission safety regulations and requirements

    Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Ability to work under pressure and continuously meet deadlines. Long hours may be required.

  • Typically works in normal office environment, but must be able to work in shop operations and occasionally in remote & austere areas

  • Possible exposure to weather, loud noises (i.e., flight lines) and hazardous conditions


  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally on short notice, to hazardous and austere environments.

  • No impediments to traveling overseas to and within countries that are considered dangerous or unhealthy.

Must have ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance at proper level
