DynCorp International LLC. Fire Inspector in OCONUS, Marshall Islands
TheFire Inspectorplans, coordinates, and implements a comprehensive inspection program of all base facilities in assigned area to detect and eliminate hazards. Participate in other activities as needed in support of all phases of the Fire Department operations.
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
Plan and administer the fire prevention education program
Develop base fire regulations, training programs, and fire hazard assessment schedules
Review construction and modification plans, confer with engineers, provide technical/functional assistance on fire prevention and building design criteria
Inspect building structures and locations of fire extinguishers to detect and correct fire hazards, determine compliance with fire safety laws and ordinances, and maintain records of them
Educate the public regarding fire prevention and fire warden duties
Investigate complaints and answer questions regarding fire hazards and violation of fire safety regulations
Participate in fire drills and classes and prepare required reports.
Performs regular and periodic fire protection inspections for all areas of the installation where the potential severity and expectancy for fire is high and involves hazards that are difficult to recognize and, once identified, require advanced, and sometimes innovative methods to reduce or eliminate them
Inspects, tests, and corrects deficiencies on a variety of fire protection systems, many of which are complex or designed for a specific operation or hazardous condition
Reviews engineering plans and specifications for new construction, alteration, and extension of existing structures
Develops and maintains a variety of documentation such as fire prevention inspection schedules and facilities files on assigned facilities
Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment
Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of fire prevention and fire suppression methods, safety principles pertaining to fire protection, and fire hazards common to commercial, industrial, and residential structures
Knowledge of operation and maintenance of pumping and all other types of fire fighting and rescue equipment
Ability to drive heavy fire apparatus in response to emergency incidents, operate and maintain pumping apparatus, and prepare reports and recommendations
Experience & Education
Minimum five (5) years of experience as a Fire Inspector
High school diploma or equivalent. Associates degree preferred.
International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), DOD, or National Pro-Board Certifications as Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor I, and Hazardous Materials Awareness
Fire & Life Safety Educator I, Plans Examiner I, Fire Officer I desired
Valid driver’s license
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
