Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Supervisor/Charge Nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) is responsible for supporting the nursing staff with routine duties. Promotes a positive teamwork environment, which emphasizes respect to all including, patients, families, physicians, staff and other departments

C.N.A Medical Unit- Full-Time. 8 or 12 hour shifts

  1. Bathes, dresses/undresses patients and assists with activities of daily living.

  2. Serves and collects food trays. Assists with patient feeding.

  3. Transports, positions and drapes patients for exams and treatments.

  4. Assists patients in ambulating.

  5. Takes and records vital signs, weights and I & O.

  6. Passes and collects bed pans.

  7. Changes bed linens.

  8. Provides encouragement, support and comfort to patients and family members.

  9. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.

    1. Provides age and culturally appropriate care to the adolescent, adult and elderly population.

    2. Orients and mentors new staff members and volunteers.

    3. Follows Universal Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

    4. Responds to all emergencies as needed.

    5. Floats to other departments as needed.

    6. Documents interventions and patient notes in Meditech as appropriate.

    7. Able to start peripheral intravenous punctures in the arms if certification completed through the education center.

    • Current Utah Certification as a Nurse Assistant required.

    • Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider.

    • 1 year experience as a nursing assistant preferred.

    • Working knowledge of medical terminology.

    • Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.

    • Ability to quickly make decisions to report patient condition with minimal supervision.

    • Working under the supervision of a RN/ LPN, the C.N.A. performs various patient care activities necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients.

    • The staff member will follow department policies and procedures and refer questions and concerns to the clinical supervisor, clinical coordinator or director.
