Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

We re seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer to join our OPERA Cloud team. As a Software Engineer you will apply your expertise and energy to design and implement key components of the Hotel Product Suites. You

will utilize your knowledge of software design to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. You will build enhancements within an existing software architecture and are actively engaged in improvements to the architecture. You have attention to detail, great verbal and written communications and are a team player with the ability to collaborate globally.


  • Analyze, design develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for assigned functional areas within the OPERA suite of products. Tasks include writing functional specifications, design documentation, coding, unit testing, test case writing, debugging, integration, performance tuning, and maintenance of assigned software modules

  • Write code, complete programming and perform user story testing and debugging applications

  • Work with little supervision, conferring with superiors on unusual or extremely complex matters. Assignments are broad in nature, usually require originality and ingenuity

  • May provide guidance, assistance, and technical leadership to lower level software engineers on more complex/large projects

  • Interact internally/externally on an as needed basis to exchange information

Must Have Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of Java language and understanding of Java related technologies, such as J2EE and MVC pattern

  • Experience in Framework and Platform design

  • Experience / knowledge in Web Services, including: WSDL; SOAP/XML based webservices, RESTful APIs

  • XML technology experience such as XSD, XPath, XQuery, XSLT, etc.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as relationship building competencies

Preferred Skills:

  • Oracle Database programming including Database design, Oracle SQL and PL/SQL

  • Working knowledge of Cloud technologies

  • Experience in Oracle ADF or Oracle JET or Oracle Service Bus is a plus

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
