Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Accounting and Control, Pharmaceutical Solution, the Financial Analyst, is responsible to ensure monthly accounting activities are done accurately and on time. Tasks includes financial statement preparation, review General Ledger transactions, account reconciliations, the production of various analysis and schedules. The incumbent will also ensure compliance with corporate and accounting policies (SOX). In addition, this position will be expected to take on project leadership roles for other financial related business initiatives within the business

Section A – Specific Responsibilities

Other responsibilities generally associated with Analyst positions are described in Section B. The duties and responsibilities of the above-mentioned position include, without being limited to, the following:

  • Prepare and analyzes the financial statements and other key reports for pre-close and budget.

  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy, analyze and reviews General Ledger transactions are posted to proper account.

  • Produce the financial statements and detailed ad-hoc financial reports (Monthly and quarterly schedules.

  • Responsible to produce and explain departmental expenses.

  • Prepare monthly recurring journal entries (Allocations, prepaids, depreciation, consumable credits, rebates, etc.).

  • Reviews inventory transactions.

  • Monitor variances or expenditures against forecast and budget, identify budget overspend, highlight issues, and impacts.

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts.

  • Improve processes and drive efficiency.

  • Ensure compliance with corporate and accounting policies (SOX).

  • Prepares and reconciles the intercompany transactions.

  • Liaison with head office to ensure that all transactions are captured properly in our SAP system.

  • Responsible for ad hoc financial reports.

Section B – General Responsibilities

  • Communicate with internal and external business partners to resolve pending issues and facilitate a positive working relationship, optimize current processes and reduce defects.

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across the assigned process and drive payable related projects and other duties as assigned by Management

  • Leads change to continually improve and optimize the entire Procure-to-Pay process while achieving departmental objectives.

  • Provide adhoc support during internal and external audit reviews.

  • Direct activities of staff, Evaluation process, etc.

  • Lead, coach and guide the business users to achieve desired business results.

  • Develop individual development plans for team members to close any competency gaps

Section C – Position Requirements

  • Bachelor degree of Commerce with a major in Finance or Accounting. a CPA designation is asset.

  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in business unit accounting and accounts payables;

  • Extensive knowledge of corporate payables business processes and associated SAP functionalities, SAP Project module and SD module experience is asset.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills; ability to prioritize workload

  • Ability to work in a fast paced changing environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong knowledge of MS Office suite, Word, PowerPoint with a proficiency in Excel

  • Willing to perform other jobs as required by organizational demands

  • Must be able to work effectively in a team-based collaborative environment

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Must be determined and flexible with a positive outlook

  • Demonstrates ownership of assigned responsibilities with a confident, independent and determined attitude.

  • Strict, disciplined approach to work which includes outstanding process awareness and respect for procedures at all times
