We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Lab Technician with our Chemical Plant located in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.

  • To perform resin and process support testing. Work with production and distribution to determine the destination silo of in-spec or off-grade produced resin.

  • Conduct daily work activities in support of HSE objectives and policies.

  • Use personal accountability to assist with carrying out duties, responsibilities and authority as defined in HSE programs, practices and procedures. Understand HSE policies and programs. Work safely, with respect to health and environmental requirements.

  • Perform in-process (Dryer / Poly / Column) and transfer testing as required and per product testing frequency using defined test procedures.

  • Enter all test data in LIMS or on Lab Service Requests.

  • Maintain LIMS record systems to track resin quality data. Report any out of control and out of specification results to the shift Foreman.

  • Trouble shoot equipment of testing issues.

  • Grade resin transfers based on in-process results and transfer testing versus product specifications.Issue transfer slips.

  • Direct production for appropriate silo source and destination for transfer of resin.

  • Provide off-shift direction to distribution and production personnel for loading silos and resin quality.

Clear off-shift bulk loads.

  • Maintain test control systems and equipment. Complete assigned control tests. Perform test troubleshooting as required

Check and prepare equipment daily. Check equipment operating parameters. Ensure equipment meets test control standards. Clean equipment as required.

Provide off-shift trouble shooting and maintenance of equipment. Call in maintenance when required.

  • Make minor repairs to equipment and initiate maintenance action when needed utilizing the SAP work notification process.


  • Community College diploma or degree in Chemistry or related Chemical Technology program.

  • Must be knowledgeable in analytical methods and functions and be able to perform mathematical calculations.

  • Must be able to work day / night rotating shifts, overtime, weekends and holidays as necessary. Hours of work will vary from week to week depending upon operational requirements, however the default hourly work schedule would be Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours / week.

  • High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to read, write and speak in English.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.

  • Must possess valid driver’s license.

  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements including climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in laboratory setting handling hazardous chemicals.

  • Wet Lab Chemistry Knowledge: Basics - moisture, pH, Specific Gravity, Total Solids and other basic lab equipment and procedures

  • Good working knowledge of SAP.
