Rite of Passage MEDICAL ASSISTANT- ORR (Bilingual in Spanish and English) in Oracle, Arizona

Description

Essential Function:

  • All duties listed in the Direct Care Staff Essential Functions

  • Performs daily sick call – establish a daily and doctor’s “profile” list

  • Treats all injuries and medical conditions within the scope of their training

  • Ensures all prescriptions medication is self-administered and documentation is conducted of that administration and completion of any prescription medication

  • Ensures all life support equipment and supplies are available and in working order

  • Provides first aid and/or life support in the event of an emergency

  • Advises the appropriate parties of developing/existing medical conditions

  • Responsible for the distribution of all student hygiene supplies

  • May be required to be present at sporting and physical training activities to ensure “profiles” are adhered to

  • Informs the Director of Student Services of any irregular medical occurrences

  • Input all required information into the Trails or similar database

Other duties:

  • Transport students, if needed

  • Attend parent meetings, if required

  • Enhance medical knowledge and certifications by attending seminars and training

  • Cares for infirmary patient cases

  • Other duties as assigned or required

Environment: Residential high school environment. Dining with students, physically demanding and mentally challenging

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must possess and maintain EMT, Medical Assistant or Certified Nurses Assistant Certification

  • Must be bilingual and speak both Spanish and English.

  • American Heart Association CPR-C (Provider) or other CPR certification – Instructor credentials a plus

  • Obtained or in-process of Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination

  • Knowledge of basic life support procedures including but not limited to patient assessment – basic life support CPR, splinting and bandaging, airway maintenance, patient handling and transportation to a medical facility

  • Must pass all pre-employment testing, i.e. TB, drug screen and physical

  • Must complete all training as required by the site and the licensing agency
