Penske has home daily driver positions based in Oswego, NY supporting the aluminum manufacturing business. We have a 6.5 year contract with the customer so we are only looking for professional drivers with a dedication to safe and timely deliveries to be part of a team environment and this rapidly growing account!
You will be part of an in-house fleet supporting Novelis out of Oswego, NY who is a world leader in rolled aluminum products delivering unique solutions for the most demanding global applications, such as beverage cans, automobiles, architecture and consumer electronics. The specific purpose of this aluminum is to service various Ford Motor Company vehicles. Freight type consists primarily of aluminum coils but also ingots. Routes are border-crossing lanes from Oswego, NY to a relay point in Ontario, CAN (such as Brantford or Kingston or Hamilton, ONT) with a return to Oswego, NY. Drivers are home daily. This is a 24/7 operation and dispatch days and times will vary depending on what is available upon your start date. This includes nights and weekends, as well as holidays.
The planned environment is drop and hook HOWEVER you will still be responsible to inspect the load for security and are also expected to secure the load (ingots or coils) should it be necessary. Due to an unexpected event you MAY have to live unload or load in which case you will have to unsecure or secure the cargo as needed.
Mix of 2015 - 2017 Freightliner manual and automatic trucks
Currently cycling all new 2018 Freightliner trucks with automatic transmissions into fleet
$70k annual W2 potential ($1,340 weekly) with a $3000 sign-on/retention bonus the first year
All miles paid plus paid stops, lay-overs and delays
$.45 per mile new hire rate and $.47 per mile tenured driver rate (approximately 435 miles per day)
Paid stops at $15.00 each (3 per day)
Live Load/Unload stops at $25.00
Paid delays at $19.50 per hour (compensable after 1 hour at any stop)
Monthly performance bonuses (up to $250)
Quarterly attendance bonus ($225)
There is a $50/weekend day incentive (if you were to work both weekend days it would be an additional $100/week.)
There is a $100 6 th day incentive
$19.50 hourly pay (training, meetings, yard work, etc.)
-Safe and responsible operation of assigned equipment.
-Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines.
-Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage before and after route.
-Primary interface with the customer at point of delivery.
-At least 23 years of age
-CDL Class A license required
-1 year of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience in the last 3 years
-3 years DMV/MVR record with two or fewer moving violations/accidents
-Reliable and customer oriented
-Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
-Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening required.
