POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision, makes preparation, operates equipment and assists physicians in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures special procedures; performs hemodynamic monitoring and other duties as assigned. Performs radiographic procedures of a highly specialized nature to demonstrate cardiac and vascular patency in a variety of anatomical parts. Recognizes the importance of supporting the team in general care of the patient and family member. Supports general efficient function of the lab by assisting in transporting patients to or from the Lab.


  1. Selects, handles, and operates equipment in a responsible, professional manner, selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.

  2. Transfers and properly position patients for examinations in order to obtain desired procedural results according to physician specifications.

  3. Assists physician during angiographic procedures, working with highly specialized equipment. Assists physicians in performance of examinations by programming injectors, administering contrast media, working appropriately within sterile procedures.

  4. Demonstrates Customer Service principles and behaviors appropriately following the ICARE standards.

  5. Adheres to prescribed standards for Radiation Safety. Participates in Quality Improvement and Safety Programs.

  6. Performs a variety of clerical tasks to include; inputting/editing exams, entering procedure and equipment charges post procedure and Cath Lab log maintenance.

  7. Takes advantage of opportunities for continuing education as provided by the department or seminars available for the various specialties, cross training in specialized areas.

  8. Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, qualify of care or the services delivered.

  9. Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.

  10. Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results in patient harm.

  11. Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements.

  12. Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.

  13. Regular, punctual and dependable attendance.


· High school graduate required

· Associate Degree or equivalent in Radiological Technology required from an accredited institution or

· RCIS credential


· ARRT registry required or RCIS credential

· State of Florida license required if RT licensed

· BLS at hire

· ACLS within 6 months of hire


· Successful completion of ARRT examination with a current license to practice radiographic technology or

· Successful completion of RCIS examinations and credentials

· Previous Specials, Vascular or Cardiac Cath Lab experience preferred
