Kaiser Permanente Manager, Finance - Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine in Pasadena, California

Develops, interprets and implements financial concepts for financial planning and control. Performs technical analysis to determine present and future financial performance. Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes recommendations for financial plans, acquisition activity, trended future requirements and operating forecasts. Performs economic research and studies in the areas of return, depreciations, working capital requirements, investment opportunities, investment performance and impact of governmental requirements.

Provides leadership and oversight in the development of strong internal controls implementation financial controls projects across the program. Ensures there are process in place to assess key controls and the development and monitoring of corrective action plans to address control deficiencies. Establishes effective relationships with Regional Controllers, Regional PFS/PBS Leaders, Program Offices, Compliance Officers, and their respective staff. Provides leadership to address internal control weaknesses. Develop financial and operational policies. Implements monitoring processes to ensure compliance with fiscal policies and procedures to accomplish KPSOM short- and long-term objectives and other requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Works on issues of diverse scope.

  • Receives assignments as objectives and determines how to use resources to meet these goals and schedules.

  • Requires significant planning and direction setting to coordinate with other divisions or resources.

  • Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect the immediate function.

  • Monitors projects to ensure completion on schedule and within budget.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

  • Minimum two (2) years of management experience.

  • Minimum five (5) years of related experience.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

License, Certification, Registration

  • N/A

Additional Requirements:

  • Requires full knowledge of own area of functional responsibility and working knowledge of another function.

  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Education:

Master-s degree preferred

Preferred Work Experience and Qualifications:

  • Healthcare experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of Kaiser's program and managerial structures preferred.

  • Minimum five (5) years of accounting and auditing experience including managerial level experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead project work involving various partners.

  • Demonstrated success in maintaining strong customer focus, and achieving high levels of customer satisfaction.

  • Demonstrated skills in identifying and facilitating the resolution of business problems within a team setting.

  • Professional credibility necessary to mobilize and orchestrate cross-functional responses within Kaiser.

  • Expertise in generally accepted accounting principles, internal control concepts, information technology systems and healthcare

  • regulations.

  • Excellent oral and written communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
