Your Role and Responsibilities :
IBM Procurement Services (IPS) is seeking highly motivated and experienced individuals with minimum of 8 years of sourcing and category management experience to join our team of procurement, consulting, and analytics professionals. IPS is IBM’s business process outsourcing division, responsible for all nature of procurement activities on behalf of our external clients. Specifically, we are seeking to fill the role of a Facilities/MRO Category Domain Authority. The Domain Authority is a global Subject Matter Expert that leads sourcing projects for our clients, develops category insights and builds the category capability across the organization to assist in strategy development for the facilities and MRO categories.
Category management skill requirements include, but are not limited to:
MRO and Facilities Management Category expertise including
Knowledge of the MRO/Facilities Management Supply Chain Channels
In-depth knowledge of the MRO supplier market (global), their specialties and line cards
In-depth knowledge of the Facilities Management market (global) and the supplier capabilities
Knowledge of Channel pricing models and their applicability
Knowledge & relationships of Software System & interfaces i.e. Procurement, AP, Inventory Management, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) etc.
Category Strategy Development capability
Baseline Creation & Savings Analysis
Knowledge of and ability to create baseline and savings analysis for procurement project. Also, knowledge of savings methodologies and how to calculate savings for each methodology.
Client Facing Skills
Ability to maintain professionalism in communications with all levels of client stakeholders. Experience being in a client facing role. Ability to deliver high quality project deliverables on time and with the level of attention to detail the client expects.
Comfort to actively liaise with our global Sales, Solutioning and Delivery teams to provide domain-specific expertise throughout the full lifecycle of new and existing client accounts. Engage with prospective clients at appropriate points in the sales cycle.
Ability to synthesize client spend data with information captured during due diligence to develop category plans, innovative sourcing strategies, and resource solutions for new accounts.
Client Relationship Management
Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with Clients.
Knowledge of and ability to utilize data analysis tools to sort through and analyze enterprise data in order to identify factors influencing business performance and to gain greater insight into trends within a business, industry and customer base.
Dealing with Disorder
Knowledge of tactics and ability to function effectively in the face of volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity (VUCA).
Ability to develop the client’s annual category strategic procurement vision; develop and manage the Procurement strategy (aligned with the businesses) including maintaining historical data, setting targets and monitoring supplier performance.
Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques; ability to present information to groups with the appropriate degree of formality.
Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization.

Knowledge of and insight into clients' key objectives and ability to work and think alongside clients to achieve clients' current and future aspirations and successes.

Understanding of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning and ability to apply organizational acumen to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.
Purchasing Tasks and Activities
Knowledge of policies, regulations and processes of purchasing; ability to use practices and procedures for procurement of materials, components, equipment and services.
Knowledge of strategic sourcing methods, technologies and processes; ability to analyze, improve and re-evaluate organizational procurement process continuously.
Strong knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office suite (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, etc.)

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Bachelor's Degree required – Preferably in business, supply chain, engineering, finance or other quantitative degrees
Minimum of eight (8) years experience in Strategic Sourcing and Strategic Category Management with full accountability for large scale savings target
Five plus years of relevant work experience in the MRO/Facilities category domain including deep sourcing/CM expertise across a wide range of sub-categories in this domain.
Preference for candidates with prior Consulting and/or Procurement Outsourcing experience with reputable Service Providers
Fluency in English both verbal and written is mandatory, including exec-level written communication and presentation development skills
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Deep business analysis and strategic thinking skills
Strong executive-level communication and relationship building skills
Excellent influencing and change management skills
High levels of personal drive, initiative and commitment to business goals
Travel requirements average 30%, but can peak up to 90% for short periods of time and may include international travel.
Role is “location free” but proximity to Raleigh, NC is a plus.
