AECOM Senior OCS Engineer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

AECOM is seeking a senior Overhead Contact System (OCS) engineer for our transit rail overhead electrification practice in Philadelphia, PA. A successful candidate will have designed and implemented a variety of overhead system types including auto-tensioned and fixed termination systems, simple catenary and single contact wire/trolley wire, as well as both AC and DC systems.
The candidate should also be experienced in the development of specifications, cost estimating, construction staging, and design around active railroad and should be familiar with construction and installation practices. Responsibilities will also include providing instruction, management and oversight to junior engineers in the practice to develop knowledge of OCS elements, guide them through design tasks and increase overall OCS capabilities of the practice. This senior OCS engineer who fills this position will serve as the design lead on transit electrification projects throughout North America.
The overhead electrification practice in Philadelphia is dynamic and growing. This position will include working with a dedicated team of overhead electrification professionals on a broad range of projects through North America, including various catenary systems types and configurations.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Full range of catenary design and analysis tasks, including support and wiring layouts and profiles, cross-section development, structural support design, equipment allocation, grounding and bonding, sectionalizing, and the development of basic design parameters
Management of the project team, budgets and all design deliverables
Incorporate the use of AutoCAD and MicroStation into the design of electrification systems as well as a variety of design software packages, including STAAD, LPile and MathCAD
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Structural or Electrical Engineering
5+ years of experience in the design and analysis of overhead electrification systems
Experience with a variety of overhead system types and electrification project scopes
Experience utilizing AutoCAD and Microstation in OCS design
Experience with structural and foundation design software (STAAD, LPile, MathCAD)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of MS Office applications
Due to nature of the work U.S. Citizenship is required
- Professional Engineering License
