Aetna Medicaid Project Lead in Phoenix, Arizona

This position is part of a highly skilled technical research and reporting team supporting multiple Aetna Medicaid plans across the country. The right candidate will turn data into information to be used every day by colleagues and management across the company. This is a learning role integrating a wide array of information from subject matter experts, healthcare and financial laws and regulations, and internal policies. It requires a creative analytical approach using a variety of reporting technologies and methods.
The position is responsible for the development and maintenance of structured reports and ad-hoc analyses that support financial operations and strategic decision making for all Aetna Medicaid markets. Responsibilities include creating queries, data visualizations, and performing data quality checks. The person in this position will collaborate with end users to identify reporting needs, and then research and apply Medicaid policy, medical claims and payment knowledge, as well as financial regulations to complete data analysis. The role also includes assisting customers in interpretation and use of the final deliverables.
*Translates complex data into information and assists users in its interpretation to support decision making,
*Applies understanding of Medicare and Medicaid programs to ensure reporting is in line with business rules, policy, and other requirements,
*Collaborates with other business areas to gather policy and program information;
*Provides consultation on the design, testing, and enhancement of reports including technical assistance support to internal customers,
*Develops and maintains reporting data warehouses using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and SQL Server Information Studio (SSIS),
*Provides oversight of data quality and provides feedback to business areas in order to improve service delivery, data integrity, and outcomes,
*Contributes to a motivated work environment by working effectively to achieve common goals;
*Critically reviews and revises existing processes and applications for updates to policies and program enhancements
*Identifies data, systems and operations problems and recommends solutions and changes to streamline.
*Bachelors degree or equivalent required, Masters preferred.
*Experience working in a data warehouse environment, with large data sets from multiple data sources
*Strong SQL and/or SAS programming skills
*Strong problem solving skills and critical thinking ability
*Advanced Excel skills (complex formulas, pivots, dynamic visualizations, VBA) required
*Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid eligibility and claims or financial reporting in the health insurance industry strongly preferred
*Ideal candidate will have health services research or epidemiology background/education
*Demonstrated ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

This position is located in our Phoenix office. We will consider telework arrangements from any US location for the right candidate. In any event, the successful candidate must be adept at working on a virtual team with persons in multiple locations.
