Verizon Senior API Platform Architect in Piscataway, New Jersey
What you’ll be doing...
Verizon API Platform Engineering team is looking for an experienced platform architect to carry-on the development and operations of a large-scale AWS based API management and discovery platform (Apigee). As an API Platform Architect you will implement and deploy API solutions while demonstrating expertise in a number of areas including cloud computing, API design and development, Public and Private API design and development, highly scalable distributed systems. You will be responsible for all aspects of design, buildout, and management of the Verizon’s Apigee platform.
Working with Verizon Application teams in setting standards and designing integration patterns for applications that adhere to API standards and best practices.
Working closely with delivery teams to implement API integration functions to support business capabilities.
Owning the design, implementation and management of Apigee Edge API Gateway and all underlying infrastructure on both AWS and VMWare.
Building, upgrading, and maintaining performance of the Apigee platform.
Creating and maintaining integrations between Apigee and external systems (SSO, LDAP, Logging, Monitoring, Change Controls).
Evaluating new versions/architectures/integrations of Apigee.
Documenting and creating playbooks for administrative/support actions to be used by Production Support.
Developing/growing a team of junior engineers to create automation to manage the platform and own platform operations.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Even better if you have:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science.
Eight or more years of relevant experience.
Four or more years of experience building API Management solutions using the Google Apigee API management Platform.
Two or more years of experience designing/managing enterprise scale platforms.
Two or more years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering and designing for performance/resiliency.
Strong background with Apigee and API gateway solutions.
AWS Certified Architect - Associate preferred.
Experience working in Agile & Scrum.
Experience working in Linux OS’s via shell (RHEL/CentOS).
Ability to modify/run Ansible automation.
Experience in automation using Ansible (preferred) or Chef/Puppet.
Experience with enterprise monitoring and logging tooling and practices. (Splunk, ELK, Datadog, Dynatrace, New Relic).
