Position Title Engineer 4 - Mechanical Engineer

AECOM is seeking a mechanical engineer to support operations at the DOE National Energy Technology Laboratory in Pittsburgh PA. This position will primarily support the facility maintenance engineering group but as needed will also support the engineering research group. Due to the nature of the work, candidate must be a US Citizen.
Complete mechanical piping design packages in accordance with NFPA fire protection and fuel gas codes and ASME codes such as B31.3 and Section 8 Division 1.
Efficiently use AutoDesk AutoCAD and Inventor to prepare mechanical and process engineering drawings including Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), fabrication drawings, and room/building layout drawings.
Prepare and check moderately complex calculations within the mechanical discipline including heat and cooling load, duct and component sizing (airflow), pipe/vessel design pressure, and pressure relief valve sizing calculations.
Review interdisciplinary engineering documents and work with other members of the engineering team to resolve any issues.
Create and/or review purchase orders, statements of work, and subcontracts.
Support in-house technicians on new installations and maintenance issues.
Assist with the development of man hour estimates for design, fabrication, and installation.
Maintain a positive working relationship with, and communicate effectively to the customer.
PE license in Pennsylvania preferred but not required.

BSME or equivalent;
5 - 12 years’ experience
Experience with HVAC systems and piping design
Experience with facility operations
PE License in Pennsylvania
