Software Engineer I

We are looking for a Software Engineer who will be responsible for designing and constructing web pages/sites, including incorporating graphic user interface (GUI) features and other techniques, will assist in administering and managing the department’s Intranet sites, will assist with project outlines and specifications, will troubleshoot, debug, implement and document software code. The candidate will work independently or as a member of a team, handling the development and growth of internal applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain custom Web applications and interfaces using VB.NET or C# and ASP.NET to support the efforts of the Strategic Pricing Group

  • Responsibilities include full software lifecycle activities, including project planning, requirements analysis, design, development, and documentation

  • Assist users in defining requirements for projects and respond in a timely manner to end user support request

  • Maintain and expand current .NET applications and upgrades to the new version of .NET Framework

  • Design, debug and support web applications

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Prepare documentations and specifications

  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with ASP.NET, VB.NET or C# and Visual Studio 2012 or newer

  • Familiar with SQL Server database structure used in supporting web applications

  • Database experience is a plus

  • VB.NET experience is preferred

  • Experience with scripting languages like JavaScript, JQuery is preferred

  • Experience in analysis, development, implementation and support of business information systems, and direct technical support of end-users

  • Must be able to work within the structure of a systems development life cycle

  • Direct client interaction sometimes required; good communication skills, both written and oral

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and be able to meet deadlines

  • Must have exceptional work ethic, and positive attitude

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related work experience

  • 2-4 years of experience with ASP.NET, VB.NET or C# and Visual Studio 2012 or newer

  • Highly motivated, independent worker

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Ability to develop and execute on detailed design documents and work plans from high-level requirements and specifications

  • Able to work nights and/or weekends as required
