Position Summary:

Provide analytical, reporting, and strategic support to the Research Safety Market Division and the Customer Channels Group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish, monitor, and analyze sales and margin forecasts.

  • Provide strategic recommendations based on variance and trend analyses.

  • Act as a business partner with departmental managers and VPs. Provide reporting along with analytical and strategic support.

  • Identify profitability drivers and communicate findings/recommendations to Senior Management.

  • Ability to partner cross functionally with internal business partners on projects including: Annual Operating Plan (AOP), quarterly forecasts, profitability improvement initiatives, and reporting enhancements.

  1. Responsible for managing all system functions as they relate to supporting the monthly close, monthly maintenance, forecast and plan support, and mapping changes

  2. Forecasting and planning for other shared service departments

  • Lead the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and forecasting processes with relevant departments and report out on progress to plan throughout the year.

  • Assist in developing and implementing processes, procedures and reporting relating to closing processes.

  • Provide leadership and mentoring activities for lower level financial analysts

  • Drive productivity and efficiency through innovation, process improvements and PPI implementation

  • Ad-hoc reporting, as required

  • Other related duties, as required.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate robust financial acumen in several areas including financial reporting, system audit and internal control, forecasting, analysis, and technical accounting knowledge.

  • Proven ability to make logical assumptions, identify trends, incorporate external and internal information, draw conclusions from ambiguous data, and effectively benchmark results against appropriate baselines.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and communicate variances to management and the ability to identify and implement process improvements.

  • Strong written communication skills, along with clear and concise verbal skills.

  • Track record of successful change management and process improvement.

  • Exhibit leadership, initiative, and the Thermo Fisher Scientific 4-I values of Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and Involvement.

  • Ability to obtain operational buy-in with easy to understand analysis and presentations.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage conflict.

  • Proven history of participating on cross functional teams as well as the ability to build organizational relationships. This position requires working in a matrix management environment.

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, good judgment, and able to prioritize projects and time effectively.

  • Commitment to continuous learning, show career progression and development, and seek opportunities to stretch capabilities.

  • Advanced skills with MS Excel, Cube environments including MDX, Microsoft Power BI. Intermediate skills with relational databases such as MS Access and SQL environments. Other software skills that are applicable include Oracle, COGNOS, SQL, Visual Basic, OBIEE, Tableau, and other Microsoft Office 365 software.

Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business and/or equivalent work experience

  • Advanced Qualification Preferred (CPA, MBA, or MS)

  • Proven ability to work independently and manage daily, weekly and monthly deliverables.

  • Strong written communication skills, along with clear and concise verbal skills.

  • 3-6 years of relevant work experience.
