Oracle Senior Data Architect in Pleasanton, California

Analyze, design develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for commercial or end user applications. Writes code, completes programming and performs testing and debugging of applications.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will analyze and integrate external customer specifications. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture. Build new products and development tools. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to discuss major changes to functionality.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

Oracle Pandemic Response Team is searching for a Senior Data Architect with real-world experience with VLDB / EDT / ETL and large data warehouses to assist with designing a system that will handle millions of transactions. Experience with government regulations and environments is a plus. US citizen is required; may need to submit for security clearance.

As the Senior Data Architect, your role will be designing and implementing a large data warehouse that will ingest data from multiple, unlike data streams. You will also be working with developers to build ad-hoc and secure queries that run on top of the data warehouse to provide information across the US.

Responsibilities

A Senior Development Manager leads the application architecture and development efforts for enterprise level applications. Develops technical strategy for a particular application or suite of applications. Ensures system integrity and a stable system with proper controls and systems including up to date document applications architecture and development expert. Leads the team from a technical perspective in the areas of application architecture, systems analysis and design, and software programming. Creates technical specifications and high-level system architecture diagrams. Works with business analysts to refine business requirements based on technical feasibility. Develops prototypes. Ensures that technical specifications are kept current during the development process. Ensures that the estimates in the technical specification are accurate. Defines the high-level software development practices and policies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 or more years of real-world VLDB / data warehouse experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate with individuals across the organization

  • A systems thinker, able to move fluidly between high-level abstract thinking and detail-oriented implementation; open minded to new ideas, approaches, and possesses the technical ability to implement ideas.

  • Experience working with Agile development frameworks.

  • A self-starter that is naturally inquisitive, requiring only small pieces to the puzzle, across many technologies - new and legacy.

Must Haves

  • Deep knowledge of the Oracle RDBMS

  • Deep knowledge of Oracle Database security features such as VPD, TDE, RAS, etc.

  • Experience in transforming a traditional relations schema into a data warehouse schema

  • Experience with Oracle Analytic functions

  • Ability to produce results quickly with little direction

  • Experience with RESTful services and other integration technologies

  • Experience with common data formats, including but not limited to JSON, XML, HL7 & CSV

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with Oracle Exadata

  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

  • Experience with Oracle Golden Gate
