Job Description

ThermoFisher Scientific is seeking a talented Software Developer to be part of a highly skilled software development team that builds data driven applications for a sophisticated synthetic DNA manufacturing site in Pleasanton, CA. This role provides the opportunity to candidates with strong engineering background to apply their aptitude to plan, design, build, implement, improve and help efficiently maintain business and systems solutions used by manufacturing operations team. The role will entail being part of an agile software development team, requiring direct interface with cross functional business and IT team members for projects and support work alike. This position has hands-on responsibility for system prototyping, configuration, design, development, testing and production support.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in designing, developing and customizing data driven software applications

  • Min 3 years development experience in these technologies

  • .Net asp.net/MVC/web forms/winforms/MVVM

  • Web services

  • HTML, XML, XSLT

  • Oracle SQL/PLSQL

  • Unit testing frameworks like nunit

  • Build automation software like Jenkins

  • Strong understanding of Scrum development SDLC

  • Experience writing technical system design documents using UML diagrams

  • Experience in all aspects of software lifecycle – plan, design, develop, test, implement, support

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; Attention to details is critical

  • Demonstrate thorough understanding and ability to use source control / configuration management tools.

  • Demonstrate understanding of QA / QC process and test methodologies

  • Experience with change management and incident management procedures

  • Application/systems support experience

  • BS Required (Computer Science, Information Systems or related)

Preference Given to Candidates with below Experience or Skills:

  • Experience with robotics interfaces and direct software control of robotics

  • Exposure to ITIL incident & change management

  • Life Science industry background / knowledge of molecular biology, chemistry, and/or biology

  • Experience with Cold Fusion, Power BI and/or Business Objects

  • Experience with Camstar Manufacturing / Camstar Designer or other manufacturing execution systems (MES) or LIMS systems is a huge plus

Working Conditions:

Works in an office environment with frequent visits to manufacturing labs. Occasional travel may be required.
