Job Description:

This role is a certified TA2 position and is responsible for providing process engineering functional assurance for the Operations Support Teams, Minor Brownfield Projects and major growth CAPEX Projects. The holder also has a role under the Technical Function Management System as the Subject Matter Expert for process engineering in the asset.

The holder is responsible for the Process Engineering discipline health in the asset and works through the Process Engineering Global Discipline Head and Regional Discipline Lead Americas (TA1) to ensure best practice is utilized for safe, efficient and reliable project and operations delivery.

The Process Engineering Team Lead (PETL) is accountable for leading, mentoring, coaching, technical guidance and assurance support for the process engineers. The PETL is accountable for supplying Process Engineering resources to the Upstream Asset team and for ensuring plans are in place to support the reliability and maintenance for the asset with respect to the discipline and working across the disciplines for an integrated support.

This role has functions within the following Asset Management System (AMS) Processes:

  • ESP- Ensure Safe Production

  • MEC- Manage Equipment Care

  • MTO- Manage Threats and Opportunities

Within the asset, this position is responsible for working closely with the Engineering Manager to support the safe delivery of production operations in compliance with Shell Standards

TA2 Process Engineering – Upstream Operations.

  • Provides coaching and guidance to Operations process engineers.

  • Provides assurance for Operations process engineering deliverables and reviews/approves technical notes and calculations.

  • Reviews and endorses MOCs and ORAs (Operations Readiness Assurance) for process engineering content.

  • Lead / support incident investigations as required

  • Lead/support Root Cause Investigations, 5 Why’s as required

  • Support onshore/offshore facilities technical and compliance audits

  • Support Atlantic LNG project reviews

  • Review and approve Operate Phase Performance Standards for Process Engineering Safety Critical Elements

  • Minor CAPEX/Operations Support projects

  • Manage asset process engineering activities and provide support to frontline operations and the other functions within upstream operations for technical resources as needed in day to day technical support of team

  • Responsible for ensuring sufficient time is allocated for troubleshoot and optimize topsides operating conditions to safely maximize production / water injection and the review of new well, tie-back opportunities, and topsides process optimizations for capacity constraints

  • Maintain benchmarked process simulation model of topsides

  • Give technical leadership and co-ordination to the direct report process engineers in support of the operations of the offshore and onshore assets of Shell Trinidad and Tobago Limited (STTL)

  • Lead the Process Engineering Proactive Technical Monitoring within the asset, ensuring effective data collection, data analysis.

  • Responsible for the day to day prioritization. Ensure that sufficient time is allocated on a daily/weekly/monthly basis for effective asset monitoring by Process Engineers, and for addressing resulting issues and opportunities.

  • Responsible for competence development of their team members

  • Responsible for developing training plans

  • Weekly 1-to-1 meetings with team

  • Must have legal authorization to work in Trinidad and Tobago without sponsorship.

  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of process engineering experience in the Oil and Natural Gas industry.

  • Extensive and in-depth process engineering discipline experience and knowledge in key areas of facilities engineering, covering onshore and offshore gas production facilities.

  • Process Safety and

  • Asset Integrity support.

  • Broad knowledge of related disciplines in Oil and Natural Gas industry.

  • Experience in the application of functional assurance processes and techniques to process engineering deliverables.

  • Experience in the management of contractors.

  • Knowledge of the latest technical developments in the process engineering discipline.

  • Significant people management, leadership and relationship management experience.

Educational requirements:

  • B.Sc. Chemical & Process Engineering.

  • Competence requirements:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and orally, supported by interpersonal skills that allow working at a senior level.

  • Team player mindset with ability to work in geographically diverse and multi-cultural environments.

  • Ability to challenge others in a constructive manner and negotiate with internal peers and partner’s representatives to influence decisions or ways of working.
