Thermo Fisher Scientific Systems Network Engineer in Portage, Michigan
We have an outstanding opportunity for a Systems Network Engineer in our Immunodiagnostic Division (IDD) working with a “state-of-the-art” highly complex, and fully integrated diagnostic automation system used in hospitals, and private laboratories. In this role, you will have the opportunity to support our customers on instrumentation, middleware, and their network, and provide support for software testing, creating software delivery packages and standardization, suggesting new software, hardware, and customizations, and creating tools around the Phadia Laboratory System for the Field Service Engineers and customers can effectively utilize it. In this role you will travel 50% or more.
What Will You Do?
Provide support for software testing, creating software delivery packages and standards, suggesting new software, hardware, & customizations.
Interact and work with Field Service Engineers (FSE), Technical Application Specialists, and customers to improve system performance through product support and configuration.
Handle complex mainframe interfaces, remote diagnostics implementation, Total Laboratory Automation (TLA) system integrations, and provide assistance towards customer, Field Service Engineers (FSE), and/or Technical Application Specialists.
Provide onsite service/systems engineering training and support to Laboratory LIS/IT departments, Biomedical Engineering Technicians (BMET) or advanced operators
Implement and execute Systems Software Architecture Platform for current and future Phadia Laboratory Systems, and specifically larger commercial and regional laboratories, as well as key accounts.
Develop turnkey scripting, standard configurations and drive images to simplify and standardize installation processes with different models of computer operating systems software for computer replacements and software upgrades to support Phadia Laboratory Systems.
Implement and execute IDM Server/Client Architecture Platform for larger commercial/regional laboratories, and key accounts.
Execute technical presentations and installations of Phadia LabCommunity, our Remote Diagnostics and Utilization Data Reporting System. Work closely with the customer IT/LIS, laboratory Director/Manager, Compliance officer, and Sales Account Executives.
Evaluate/propose computer hardware architecture, system requirements, and networking solutions based on the technical specifications of Phadia Laboratory System.
How Will You Get There?
Bachelor of Science (IT), Computer Information Systems, or equivalent with 1-3 years of work experience, preferably in Medical Devices.
A self-starter, strong communication and documentation skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and good technical presentation skills.
Understanding of systems integration technology including software, electrical/electronics, mechanical, and chemistry technology, and complete product life cycles, including software/hardware requirements, hardware design and development, testing, and release and support.
Competency, and experience with networking Cisco firewall devices, Juniper firewall devices (preferred), and knowledge of scripting including PowerShell, VBS, and batch files within Windows.
Basic competency in programming languages: Microsoft Visual Studio C/C#/C++/Basic.NET Framework, programming: Microsoft Access and SQL Database Architecture, and 3rd –party Report Generator software programming is a plus.
