Dover Free Standing Emergency Room will provide fast, convenient care to people in the Dover, NH community. Portsmouth Regional Hospital Dover Emergency Room, opening Spring of 2019, will be staffed with board-certified emergency room physicians and nurses 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Conveniently located at 10 Central Avenue in Dover, NH and directly off Exit 7 of the Spaulding Turnpike, this 10,000 square-foot facility is constructed with the surrounding population’s needs in mind.

_Dover Free Standing Emergency Room _will feature: • 11 Private emergency exam rooms, including a fully equipped Trauma Room • Access to the state’s only ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center • Fully integrated EMS communications system to support short patient wait times • Available on-site Imaging (CT Scan, X-ray and Ultrasound Imaging) and state-of-the-art instrumentation for full diagnostic laboratory testing • Telemedicine capabilities with specific focus on stroke and behavioral health • Separate pediatric waiting area and dedicated pediatric treatment rooms • A supportive culture motivated on fostering teamwork and educational opportunities

POSITION SUMMARY: Performs chemical, bacteriological, serological and microscopic procedures in one or more functions of laboratory sections. Maintains records of performance as defined in the Laboratory's general and procedure manuals. Ensures that all policies and procedures are performed as defined in policy and procedure manuals approved by the Medical Director of the Laboratory. Performs all services as they may relate to patient care / treatment with consideration for the age/condition of the patient.

_SPECIFIC ELEMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:_

• Knows, understands, and puts into practice general lab policies/procedures as well as department/section specific policies/procedures. Reviews all posted policy changes as required. Adheres to all regulatory guidelines.

• Demonstrates the ability to assess a situation, consider the options, and formulate an appropriate course of action. Recognizes and performs duties in an independent manner with little or no supervision. Possess the ability to assume and carry out “tech-in-charge” duties, including the ability to direct the activities of staff or functions, when necessary.

• Demonstrate initial and annual competency in all appropriate designated lab sections within set deadlines. Accurately performs proficiency testing when scheduled. Participates in continuing education activities.

• Participates in all facility/corporate mandatory annual training within set deadlines.

• Is cooperative in assisting the laboratory team in the completion of miscellaneous duties. This includes specimen receiving and putting away supplies when received in the department.

• Effectively organizes and completes daily tasks in assigned area{s}.

• Effectively troubleshoots/resolves instrument problems and documents corrective action in appropriate log; when necessary, performs instrumentation repairs. Effectively investigates/resolves specimen collection problems using Outstanding Specimen Report (OSR) and specimen tracking tool when appropriate.

• Assures quality control is properly performed and logged, works within quality control limits and trends, and follows proper department procedure for corrective action.

• Preventative maintenance and safety checks of equipment are performed and documented according to schedule.

• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills to train new employees and/or students in general lab policies/procedures as well as department/section specific policies/procedures.

• Demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary to communicate with, provide care for, and assess data appropriate to the age of the patient served. • Demonstrates knowledge and adheres to all policies relating to the JCAHO National Patient Safety Goals for the Laboratory, including, but not limited to critical call read back and patient identification.

_QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS_:

EXPERIENCE Required - Graduate of accredited school of Clinical Laboratory Science. Preferred - 1-2 years experience as Medical Laboratory Technician

EDUCATION Required - Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related science

CERTIFICATION Required- BLS certification, registry eligible, ASCP or equivalent. Successful completion of MLT registry within 6 months of eligibility or hire. Continuing education to maintain registry/licensure is required.
