Dover Free Standing Emergency Room will provide fast, convenient care to people in the Dover, NH community. Portsmouth Regional Hospital Dover Emergency Room, opening Spring of 2019, will be staffed with board-certified emergency room physicians and nurses 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Conveniently located at 10 Central Avenue in Dover, NH and directly off Exit 7 of the Spaulding Turnpike, this 10,000 square-foot facility is constructed with the surrounding population’s needs in mind.
_Dover Free Standing Emergency Room _will feature: • 11 Private emergency exam rooms, including a fully equipped Trauma Room • Access to the state’s only ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center • Fully integrated EMS communications system to support short patient wait times • Available on-site Imaging (CT Scan, X-ray and Ultrasound Imaging) and state-of-the-art instrumentation for full diagnostic laboratory testing • Telemedicine capabilities with specific focus on stroke and behavioral health • Separate pediatric waiting area and dedicated pediatric treatment rooms • A supportive culture motivated on fostering teamwork and educational opportunities

_POSITION SUMMARY_: Performs chemical, bacteriological, serological and microscopic procedures in one or more functions of laboratory sections. Maintains records of performance as defined in the Laboratory's general and procedure manuals. Responsible for specific laboratory department policies, procedures and records and ensures that all policies and procedures are performed as defined by all staff. Performs all services as they may relate to patient care / treatment with consideration for the age/condition of the patient. Oversees day to day operations of FSER Laboratory function to maintain compliance with regulatory standards.; including staff performance. Serves as a liaison for lab services to the hospital, physicians and nurses related to FSER functions.
_SPECIFIC ELEMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:_ * Performs routine and/or complex testing in specific areas of the lab according to department policies. * Know policies, procedures and practices necessary to perform specimen processing duties * Responds to requests for emergency service in a timely manner * Organizes workload within the department to meet the needs of the institution within established time frames. * Answers all incoming phone calls and requests for information in a timely manner * Reports any incomplete assignments/workload to incoming shift in order to ensure continuity of result reporting. * Demonstrates the ability to differentiate results of various tests to determine the accuracy of test result and reports any unusual findings/trends to supervisor. * Maintains clean workstation * Demonstrates initial and annual competency in all areas including phlebotomy and processing and all computer related functions * Performs and documents various quality control and equipment maintenance procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations. * Reviews all department QC, QA, equipment records and documents according to department policies. * Maintains department quality control records, equipment records, procedure manuals to meet regulatory guidelines (CAP, JCAHO, State of NH) * Maintains quality standards for all aspects necessary for excellent patient care including reagents, equipment, maintenance and troubleshooting, personnel, procedures, supply inventory and productive workflow and all required documentation including procedure manuals. * Participates in the Quality Improvement by collecting data and making suggestions for improvement. * Demonstrates responsibility and accountability in the performance of the program. Works with the Laboratory Director to ensure compliance with procedures throughout the facility * Oversees routine procedures as needed to assure that patient results are reported accurately and are processed in a timely manner. * Develop effective working relationships with non-laboratory personnel in order to promote a comprehensive program. * Assures that new staff are oriented to department and competencies documented. * Assists lab management in and department specific changes, upgrades or projects in a timely manner * Adheres to hospital policy for reporting patient safety issues, including errors. Consistently “Puts Patient Safety First “ when performing job duties or providing care. * Strive to develop a team environment with all disciplines working at the site. Per the direction of the FSER Management perform other duties as assigned to ensure effective patient and operational flow of the FSER. Duties could include but not limited to greeting patients, assisting with EVS duties, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Experience: 3-7 years of Medical Technologist experience
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science
Certifications: MT-ASCP required, American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support certification (BLS) and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification required upon hire.
