Job Description

Did you know? IBM Z mainframes securely handle 87% of all credit card transactions ($7.7 trillion per year). IBM Z mainframes efficiently run 68% of the world’s production workloads – at only 6% of the total IT cost. IBM Z is looking for a UX designer who can work closely with cross functional teams to design modern and user-friendly mainframe interfaces and experiences. As a UX designer, you are responsible for designing, wireframing and prototyping new software interfaces that deliver delightful user experiences. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working alongside other design team members as well as interacting closely with offering managers and engineers in global teams.

Responsibilities include:

Work closely with design researchers, visual designers, front end developers and other UX designers to create great solutions for our users

Work with empathy to create intuitive user centered designs

Provide UX guidance for Offering Management, Design, and Engineering teams

Facilitate IBM Design Thinking workshops, present findings, and communicate effectively with clients, business partners, and IBM colleagues

Take direction and work both collaboratively and autonomously

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree in Design or related field

Experience with a variety of UX designs, including both product and services design

Strong understanding of usability and user centered design practices

Passion for emerging technologies and hunger to innovate

Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Strong organizational skills and an attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

Technical background - especially experience with IBM Z or other IBM Systems technology

Experience designing enterprise products or applications

Experience with user or customer advocacy

Experience with visual design

Experience creating clickable prototypes (InVision or Axure)
