As a SiteReliability Engineer, you will solve interesting technical challenges bydefining, designing, deploying, and troubleshooting key Oracle Cloud services,platforms, and infrastructure, always thinking about reliability, scalability,resilience, security, and performance.
The idealcandidate for this engaging and visible technical leadership role would havethe experience of a developer, the wits of a systems and infrastructure whiz,and the courage of a spirited "closer". Service Ownership –You will be part of the SREteam, whose mission is the shared full stack ownership of a collection ofservices and/or technology areas, with our Development partners.
Ownership Scope – As an SRE, you willunderstand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, andoverall behavioral characteristics of the production services you own. Inpartnership with your Development partners, you will have theresponsibility to ensure that services are designed and delivered to bemission critical with focus on security, resiliency, scale, andperformance. SREs are the ultimate authority and are accountable for theend-to-end performance and operability of the services they own.
Service Design – As the Oracle Cloud evolves;you will partner with development teams in defining and implementingimprovements in service architecture, both current and future. As an SRE,you will be an expert at articulating technical characteristics of yourservices and the dependencies between services, and guide Developmentteams to engineer and add premier capabilities to the Oracle Cloud serviceportfolio.
Operations Engineering – You will understand andbe able to communicate the scale, capacity, security, performanceattributes and requirements of the services you own. You are a SubjectMatter Expert, able to understand and communicate every characteristic ofyour service stack, such as:
degradation and behavior underload of the services and their dependencies
end-to-end tuning needs,optimizing resource utilization, as load patterns fluctuate
Instrumentation and metricsthat clearly describe the service behaviors
scaling requirements andpatterns
resiliency and recoverability,ensuring that backup / restore and disaster recovery capabilities areimplemented, tested and maintained
Automation – You will have a clearunderstanding of automation and orchestration principles, and will beeager to automate, wherever and whenever the possibility arises, whilesimultaneously eliminating technical debt. Automation must be part of yourDNA.
Prevention - Once you have expertlyresolved an issue, you will immediately work on how to more quicklyresolve the problem next time, with the goal to eventually prevent theproblem happening ever again
Technical Experts - As service owner, you arethe ultimate escalation point for complex or critical issues that have notyet been documented as SOPs for Level1 staff. You will usually getcalled in during major incidents as an SME, when the source of aproblem is unclear. You will have the deep understanding of servicetopology and their dependencies required to troubleshoot issues and definemitigations.
Broad Interests - SREs are a rare mix ofsysadmins and development Engineers, and as such have the ability tounderstand and explain the affect of product architecture decisions on theability to run as distributed systems. They are driven by professionalcuriosity and a desire to a develop deep understanding of the theirservices and the technologies they depend upon.
Represent SRE - Proactive, self-motivated,customer-focused, organized, and a good communicator. SRE can be expectedto represent Cloud products and engineering in sensitive forums.
What YouNeed to Have
A BS or MSin Compute Science, or equivalent
Knowledge of :
Server hardware configuration
Networking and TCP/IP
Standard Internet services,such as DNS, HTTP, etc.
Scripting languages, such asPython, Ruby, Bash, etc.
Monitoring and Instrumentation
Cloud computing patterns
IT Security and compliance
5 year experience of runninglarge scale customer facing web services
Most importantly, the aptitudeto be a good team player and the willingness to learn and implement newCloud technologies as needed
Methodical approach totroubleshooting complex problems

Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Work with Oracle's world class technology to develop, implement, and support Oracle's global infrastructure.
As a member of the IT organization, assist with the analyze of existing complex programs and formulate logic for new complex internal systems. Prepare flowcharting, perform coding, and test/debug programs. Develop conversion and system implementation plans. Recommend changes to development, maintenance, and system standards.
Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. BS or equivalent experience in programming on enterprise or department servers or systems.
