Job Summary:

The Retail Banner Group (GDN/IDA/RRx/MSC/Uniprix/Proxim) BI Analyst responsibilities include the development of data warehousing and reporting capabilities. The Analyst is responsible for supporting the analytical needs of the Retail Banner Group, supporting Operations, Category Management, Pharmacy Services, Marketing and other departments with data related requirements. He/She will be required to meet with different levels of the Retail Banner Group to receive and interpret reporting requirements and transform their needs into meaningful, actionable reporting and insights. The analyst will be required to design, develop, execute and distribute reports and complex scorecards from various data sources both internal to McKesson, such as distribution data, dispense, point of sale, loyalty, marketing data, as well as external data such as IQVIA, Nielsen, Stats Can, etc. In addition, the analyst will be required to create and automate new data sources, as well as develop a clear understanding of existing information and processes in order to enhance and streamline their production. The Analyst will report to the Supervisor, BI and Data Aggregation.

Key Responsibilities

The Analyst:

Data aggregation

  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems

  • Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems

  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities

  • Track and document data sources, validation practices and utilization across the Retail Banner

  • Investigate problems and inconsistencies with information provided to clients and coordinates correction

  • Design new BI solutions incorporating multiple data sets in order to automate queries

  • Identify, standardize and automate new data sources

BI and Scorecarding

  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data using advanced analytics and statistical techniques to inform business strategies

  • Work with preferred external partners on data management, development and score card implementation

  • Implement reporting automation

  • Maintain and execute standardized / automated data base score cards

  • Assist in the identification, selection and business case preparation for new tools or resources required to continue to advance dashboard, scorecard, report and data usage

  • Create and maintain customer specific business review dashboards

  • Execute the analytical reporting plan establishing appropriate due dates, formats, frequency, audience etc.

  • Drive adoption of BI and data analytics culture throughout the Retail Banner Group

  • Mine and interpret data in order to provide insights.

Capacity Building

  • Support Supervisor in the development and implementation of databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality

  • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs

  • Ensure the automation and streamlining of all processes

  • Takes part in cross functional teams on data driven projects

  • Trains and supports user community

  • Ensures reporting best practices across RBG and with top tier external peers

  • Executes processes and solutions that meet ethical and legal obligations when providing information internally and externally and flags breaches when required Competency Development

  • Design, develop and distribute reports and dashboards to track business performance indicators

  • Provides support and training to internal clients on new tools and data sources

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years working experience as a data analyst or business data analyst

  • BS in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics

  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques

  • Strong knowledge of and experience with analytics and reporting packages (Business Objects, Tableau, Alteryx, PowerBI, Birst, etc.), databases (SQL etc.), programming (XML, Javascript, or ETL frameworks)

  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages (SAS, etc.)

Skills

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong communication skills in French and English

  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings

  • Strong collaboration skills

  • Strong attention to detail
