Job Summary

The Sr. Manager, Operational Excellence is responsible for leading a team of process experts, analysts and facilities support. He/she will develop and lead the execution of the Operational Excellence methods for all the Distribution Centers. Reporting to the VP of Operational Excellence, this position will partner with local Operations teams to focus on improving quality, productivity, labor, and cost saving efficiencies.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Accountable for managing, coaching and developing the Operational Excellence team

  • Works in close collaboration with DO’s to better understand their needs and align on future requirements i.e. standardization of processes, leveraging market practices, optimization of DC flow

  • Responsible to identify, develop and implement national initiatives / projects

  • Deploy, implement and support a culture of Operational Excellence across the distribution organization, putting forth recommendations and implementing processes consistent with best practices

  • In support of the DO’s ensure that principles are adopted and Operational Excellence objectives are incorporated into the organization’s strategic plan and goals

  • Responsible for identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives for processes, equipment functionality, costing, waste, productivity and capacity

  • Responsible for KPI standardization across the network

  • Accountable for ensuring that business continuity plans are established and followed

  • Works across the various functional areas to drive projects and initiatives

  • As a part of the operations leadership team, responsible for updating the business on all operational excellence initiatives

Day to Day Activities

  • Lead the coordination and standardization of distribution functions in areas of order processing, warehouse management and inventory management to maximize customer order fill expectations

  • Establish & recommend policies and procedures that ensure the effective integration of distribution requirements in a multiple plant/multiple channel/one company network environment

  • Manage key metrics and objectives for all regional and local operations

  • Work up-stream with sales, customer service, transportation, & procurement on joint cost improvement effort

  • Continuously improve the efficiency of the operation; including fill rates, on time deliveries, accuracy, productivity, product integrity and cost

Key Requirements

  • University degree in Business, Engineering or other related field of study

  • 7-10 years of continuous process improvement experience required

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – this position interfaces with senior executives on a regular basis

  • Excellent leadership and managerial skills

  • Strategic and analytical thinking, strong capability of project management and problem solving skills, sound judgment and a willingness to resolve issues and problems in a timely manner

  • Excellent communications skills and have the ability to develop rapport and credibility across the organization, promote ideas and proposals persuasively

  • Bilingual

  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma considered an asset
