Job Summary

Rust Constructors Inc., an AECOM company, is seeking a Rebar-Rodbuster to be based in our Questa, New Mexico location.

Position Description or Typical Responsibilities:

The Rebar-Rodbuster is responsible for positioning and securing steel bars or mesh in concrete forms in order to reinforce concrete. Use a variety of fasteners, rod-bending machines, blowtorches, and hand tools. Includes rod busters.

Under direct supervision, performs routine duties. Displays knowledge and abilities to evaluate, select and apply standard construction techniques, procedures and criteria to meet basic construction specifications. Displays applications of sound professional judgment on details of work. Independently performs walk-downs and inspections of installed commodities to assure conformance with specifications and design. May provide technical direction to laborers or discipline helpers.

  • Determine quantities, sizes, shapes, and locations of reinforcing rods from blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions.

  • Space and fasten together rods in forms according to blueprints, using wire and pliers.

  • Position and secure steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms, using fasteners, rod-bending machines, blowtorches, or hand tools.

  • Cut rods to required lengths, using metal shears, hacksaws, bar cutters, or acetylene torches.

  • Place blocks under rebar to hold the bars off the deck when reinforcing floors.

  • Cut and fit wire mesh or fabric, using hooked rods, and position fabric or mesh in concrete to reinforce concrete.

  • Bend steel rods with hand tools or rodbending machines and weld them with arc-welding equipment.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • None

Experience:

  • Five (5) years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or demonstrated equivalent.

Additional Information:

  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
