IBM Product Marketing Discipline in Raleigh, North Carolina

Job Description

If you are passionate about Product Marketing, this is an amazing opportunity to craft the direction of this discipline across IBM. We’re looking for a shown leader that wants to help set the bar for Product Marketing and execute the vision. The role will involve hands-on interaction with Product Marketers at all levels to facilitate alignment in approach, forums for best practice sharing and the creation of career development programs. A collaborative spirit will be especially meaningful in this position, which requires working across the discipline areas in Marketing (such as with Performance Marketing, Analytics and MD&I) and across functions in a Business Unit capacity (such as Offering Management, Analyst Relations and Sales in addition to Marketing). Success here builds a Product Marketing function that plays a key role in positioning IBM solutions that are bold, differentiated and able to cut through noise to build pipeline and revenue.

Responsibilities include:

  • Defining and communicating the standards for product marketing. Build clarity around what excellence looks like from strategies to plans to execution and optimization.

  • Calling out when we fall short of the Product Marketing standards. It is also key to celebrate and share out our best work.

  • Recruit new people and bring new product marketing skills into the discipline. Work with local Product Marketing leaders in key sites to build in-person community building activities calendar in addition to online community revamp. Combination of knowledge sharing and education.

  • Support the alignment of tools required for Product Marketers to be successful (such as launch template, Marketing business plan, training).

Position needs to be based out of our Austin TX, Boston MA, Atlanta GA, Raleigh NC, or New York City offices* .

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 5+ years of solutions marketing, product marketing, product management or applicable experience.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and articulate/align technical features to customer needs.

  • Exceptional knowledge of sales, marketing and development processes.

  • Demonstrated leadership, sales support, project management and training skills.

  • Excellent analytical and presentation skills including demonstration skills to handle many assignments simultaneously

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • Demonstrated communication and writing skills.

  • Demonstrated people and management skills to interact with colleagues and cross-functional teams and third parties.

  • Expert in forward thinking and market research, and should possess strong problem-solving skills.

  • Able to develop effective relationships and operate with senior level management.

  • Efficiently work under pressure and deadlines, and stretch extra hours to complete assigned task.
