Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Software Manager for immediate employment in the Raleigh, NC office. The successful candidate will utilize their design and development skills to deliver products with high quality, on-time and within budget. The developer will participate in the design, coding, testing, debugging, documentation and deployment of new customized Web based applications, and will maintain and improve legacy Web based applications. The candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing efficient algorithms for spatial data processing, and will work closely with technical staff to develop solutions, so the ability to learn and understand basic water resources engineering concepts and apply those concepts in web based application development is needed. Due to the varying nature of our projects, our staff grows their skills rapidly since each solution requires new approaches and technology components. This is an exciting opportunity to join an accomplished team and work on a variety of exciting and innovative projects for our various clients. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Supports all current applications, as well as take lead in new application development initiatives

  • Translates detailed specifications into production-ready code, delivering leading edge geospatial solutions to our clients through web browsers, phones and tablets

  • Performs systems analysis and functional testing as needed

  • Produces technical documentation that accurately and thoroughly depicts the web based application design and code life-cycle

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science

  • 5+ years of full-time, relevant web programming experience

  • Proficient in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, JQuery, Dojo

  • Experience with elements of the Microsoft development stack, including: Visual Studio, ASP.NET, and SQL Server

  • Experience with Source Control such as TFS

  • Must have an excellent understanding of object-oriented programming and relational database concepts

  • Ability to analyze and resolve technical issues and problems, identifying different design alternatives

  • Highly autonomous, self-starter with experience in the full SDLC process

  • Quick-learner, familiar with common design patterns, adept at studying other people's code

  • Team player with a positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science preferred

  • Experience in GIS application development (desktop, server, mobile), in particular the ESRI suite (ArcGIS API for Javascript and/or ArcObjects) is strongly preferred

  • User interface design
