Olympus America Inc. Mgr., Product- Upstream Marketing in Redmond, Washington

Job Duties::

  • Quantify and qualify global market opportunities for assigned product lines including addressable market size, reimbursement landscapes and pricing strategies.

  • Execute large scale primary research projects.

  • Analyze secondary market reports.

  • Partner with global affiliates to quantify and qualify market opportunities in ex US regions.

  • Develop robust market, P&L and product forecasting models.

  • Foster strong and ongoing relationships with HCP customers that allows for collection of field intelligence (user needs, market trends).

  • Lead in the creation of value propositions, positioning for single products and portfolios of products.

  • Through interdependent partnering with Research and Product Development teams, ensure voice-of-customer is understood and aligned with product design and functionality.

  • Coordinate with Development project teams in the evaluation of prototypes from benchtop through clinical testing. Lead or co-lead external Advisory Boards.

  • Ensure all packaging and labeling clearly articulates appropriate claims, instructions and other information as necessary to meet marketing and compliance requirements.

  • Coordinate training and support for upstream and downstream affiliates as needed during new product launches.

  • Develop launch packages that provide validated and approved product information that can be used in affiliate launch materials.

  • Maintain a strong pulse on market dynamics through participation in medical and industry conventions, review of clinical journals and HCP interactions.

  • Support and participate in development and implementation of Olympus affiliate business and strategic planning initiatives.

  • Liaise between affiliates and ORA Operations and Customer Service to develop and manage product demand and order fulfillment.

  • Partner with Finance to manage budget and revenue expectations.

  • Effectively influence and collaborate with Olympus affiliates and liaisons in the full scope of upstream marketing activities.

  • Work with Olympus affiliates and outside consultants to develop successful reimbursement strategies.

  • Work within the guidelines of the Olympus compliance programs when interacting with HCPs.

  • Act as a role model for the company demonstrating professionalism and impeccable ethics.

  • Perform all other essential duties as assigned.

Job Requirements::


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent degree in business, economics, marketing, engineering or related field is required.

  • Master's Degree or other advanced degree is required.

  • Minimum on 3 years progressively responsible related experience is required.

  • Minimum of 2 years as Product Manager in medical device or life sciences industry is also required.

  • Respiratory (lung cancer) product experience is preferred.

  • GI- oriented product experience is a plus.

  • Must have high level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Superior writing, composition, and English grammar skills are a must.

  • Well-developed verbal communication skills, with the proven ability to influence, are essential.

  • Must have proven record of consistently following through on commitments.

  • Must be able to maintain and communicate realistic schedules and meet or beat deadlines.

  • Experience incorporating pricing models, forecasts, strategies and programs that achieve the envisioned results is desired.

  • Knowledge of the Company products and its competitive landscape such as device regulations that govern commercial activity is preferred.

  • Proven problem solving and project management skills in a product management role are necessary.

  • Must have service oriented approach, flexible and proactive towards changing needs.

  • Must be exceptionally team focused and actively contributes to a positive and innovative work environment.

  • Proven ability to work on assignments that are complex and sensitive in nature where independent action and a high degree of initiative are required in resolving problems and developing recommendations is necessary.

  • Must work precisely according to procedures, rules and regulations, has a passion for continuous improvement and quality.

  • Must demonstrate the highest ethical standards, actively promotes trust, respect and integrity in all dealings both inside and outside the Company.

  • Must be able to work overtime, including evenings on occasion.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 25%, to visit customers, Olympus business sites, and attend trade shows and events is essential.

Job Description:

Redmond, WA - The Product Manager, Upstream Marketing is responsible for all aspects of pre-commercial product and market development including but not limited to market landscaping and sizing, reimbursement, revenue modelling, voice of customer market research, and launch support. Internally, the incumbent will partner closely with R&D, Clinical Research and Product Development to ensure alignment between customer needs, product design and evidence collection. Externally, the incumbent will be expected to interface regularly with Affiliates’ upstream and downstream marketing teams, HCP customers, and any outside vendors to support and drive the business.
