The Oracle Exadata / Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance (ZDLRA) / Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA) team is looking for a top class Product Management Director / Senior Director, to be a member of, and lead, the core team behind the fastest growing product and PaaS Services in Oracle’s history. In this role, you will be working with an elite group of software developers and product managers to lead current initiatives around developing and marketing some of Oracle Database’s core capabilities and cloud services, such as Exadata, ZDLRA and MAA, and other exciting products and cloud services in the future, such as Autonomous Databases. You will be expected to take complete product management ownership on selected areas as well as products and services to be released in the future. Specific duties of this position include the following:

  • Drive the development and launch of generations of Oracle Exadata/ZDLRA/MAA and Autonomous Database Cloud Services that integrate high performance software in an optimized hardware configuration, in a cloud consumption model, to solve challenging problems related to performance, scalability, availability and data protection

  • Gather inputs from customers, validate and prioritize development plan, and write necessary documents to guide development

  • Work closely with Development and Documentation teams during the development process, ensure that the product and cloud services functionality being built is consistent with customer expectations and that it also helps establish significant market leadership for Oracle compared to competing products

  • Maintain deep relationships with key customers – as the Development advocate/sponsor for these customers, ensure their continued success with Oracle’s products and cloud services, and in turn cultivate the relationships to develop highly effective marketing references

  • Work with customers directly, as well as Oracle Customer Support, Sales and Sales Consulting teams to understand customer usage patterns, help deployment of Oracle’s innovative technologies and cloud services by working with customers’ architecture teams, and improve the adoption of best practices around Exadata, Oracle Database and additional products and cloud services in the future

  • Work with Corporate and Field Marketing to evangelize Exadata/ZDLRA/MAA and Autonomous Databases, and help establish these brands within the customer base

  • Plan and execute product announcements, and help coordinate beta testing

  • Provide hands-on training for Customer Support and Technical Sales personnel, as well as for select customers

  • Develop collateral such as technical and business white papers, success stories, data sheets, brochures, best practices and product presentations

  • Maintain internal and external web sites on related technologies

  • Present at Oracle user group meetings, trade shows, customer sites, industry conferences, industry analyst meetings and at the Oracle Customer Visit Center

  • Track the PaaS / Converged Infrastructure market landscape, as well as competitive products and features

Specific Job Background

  1. 12 or more years of engineering / product management / technical sales experience, preferably in enterprise computing, with strong familiarity around computer networks, cloud technologies, virtualization, data center infrastructure; familiarity with Oracle databases as a DBA is a strong plus

  2. Excellent written and communication / presentation skills – writing samples will be required

  3. BS / MS in Computer Science or related technical degree, MBA highly desirable

  4. Balanced mix of leadership and technical skills, along with relevant hardware and database software experiences

  5. Experience dealing with a broad spectrum of IT audience – ranging from CTO/CIO to database/systems/network/storage administrators

  6. Awareness of trends and opportunities in cloud computing and potential influence on Oracle’s business

  7. Analytical skills, with a passion to solve complex technology and business problems, and an aptitude to learn new things

  8. Meticulous, structured and detail-oriented, while also having the ability to see the big-picture

  9. Strong inter-personal skills – ability to effectively deal with various internal groups as well as external customers in high intensity situations

  10. A can-do attitude, with a focus on deliverables and deadlines

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Manage a team that acts as the central resource and driving force for the design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing of product(s) as they move from conception to distribution. Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget.

As a Director in the product development division, you will lead a team that defines product specifications and or strategy. Gather and analyze information to define product specifications and review design specifications. Envision and communicate product strategy and functionality. Initiate and foster relationships with other groups. Review product documentation and collateral. Ensure successful product releases based on corporate priorities.

Assists in the development of short, medium, and long term plans to achieve strategic objectives. Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met. The ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations is important. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development and product management. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 of software engineering or related experience preferred.
