The Oracle Linux team is responsible for the development, test and release of Oracle Linux, Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel and Virtualization products (Oracle VM, KVM) for the x86 and ARM architecture. We work closely with IaaS teams in Oracle Cloud, Azure and AWS. As a member of our team, you will have the unique opportunity to work on a broad range of products from userspace and kernel packages for Oracle Linux releases to Ksplice, Software Collections, EPEL, SpaceWalk and SDKs to support the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. You will work in a collaborative, agile environment and streamline the CI/CD pipeline to operate at scale.
We are looking for a smart, hands-on software developer to work on Oracle Linux releases in a cloud environment. You will develop, automate and run tests for Linux and Virtualization products, troubleshoot and solve problems. Your focus will be CI/CD for security and other errata releases.
The ideal candidate is technically strong and gets a lot done. You can balance speed and quality with iteration and incremental improvements. You have made life easier for other developers and have motivated your team to make process and product improvements. You have solid communication skills.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related engineering field.
0-2 years of experience in software development.
Proficiency in Linux/Unix operating system and well-versed in C, Python or scripting.
Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will apply basic to intermediate knowledge of software architecture to perform software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications or operating systems according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and occasionally suggest improvements to the architecture.
Duties and tasks are standard with some variation; displays understanding of roles, processes and procedures. Performs moderately complex problem solving with assistance and guidance in understanding and applying company policies and processes. BS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 1 year of software engineering or related experience.
