Preferred Qualifications

Security Alerts Group is responsible for the following:

  • Managing and expediting the resolution of security vulnerabilities in all Oracle products and distributing fixes in a timely manner.

  • Managing and expediting the resolution of 3rd party vulnerabilities in all Oracle products and distributing fixes in a timely manner.

  • Communicating with security researchers that report security vulnerabilities in any Oracle product.

  • Analyzing and reviewing fixes of security vulnerabilities.

  • Creating automation for improving productivity and for effectively managing all these activities for product development organizations.

Responsibilities of this highly technical position include the following:

  • Developing and maintaining automation for effective management of security vulnerabilities in Oracle products.

  • Performing independent research on security vulnerability trend to help Product Engineering Management prioritize their resources.

  • This would include creating online reports for both general analysis as well as product specific analysis

  • In order to create appropriate automation, the candidate must be able to understand and to a lesser extent be able to participate in the following so that their tools and automation can properly assist the following:

  • Assisting Oracle development in the analysis and resolution of product security vulnerabilities.

  • Assisting coordination and resolution of common vulnerabilities across various Oracle development teams and external organizations.

  • Assisting and managing relationships with external security vulnerability researchers and organizations worldwide.

  • Working closely with other security and product engineering groups to create security policies and procedures. The requirements of these security policies and procedures would later be reflected in automation created by the candidate.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • A BA/BS in Computer Science/Engineering is mandatory

  • Minimum four years experience in software development or information security is mandatory

  • Ability to program in Java is mandatory

  • Working knowledge of at least one relational database is mandatory

  • Ability to effectively interact with product teams is mandatory

  • Good analytical, verbal, written, presentation and multi-tasking skills are mandatory

  • Working knowledge of Oracle DB, Fusion Middleware, Java Server Pages, and/or Web Applications is highly desirable

  • Strong understanding of secure coding standards, security concepts and assessment of security vulnerabilities in software products is highly desirable

  • Understanding of web application security threats, risk models and tools is highly desirable

  • Knowledge of/experience with hacking tools is desirable

  • Ability to conduct independent security research to optimize and prioritize resources for both Oracle Security teams and Oracle Development teams is desirable

  • Knowledge of OS and network concepts is desirable

  • Any program management experience is desirable

  • Experience with customer service/support for software products is desirable

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
