IBM's Tech Re-Entry program is looking for talented technical professionals who are looking to restart their careers after an absence from the workforce of two years or more. This paid 12 week returnship will enable you to work on projects that match your expertise, interests, and abilities and could lead to full-time employment. During your IBM Tech Re-Entry returnship program, you will have the opportunity to update your skills in a contemporary work environment. IBM Watson Financial Services Solutions - Software Services is responsible for the successful implementation of IBM Software Solutions for clients worldwide. As a Technical Consultant, you will work closely with team members, clients and partners to identify, design and implement solutions based on IBM’s Financial Crimes Insight for Insurance (FCI for Insurance) product which help our large insurance customers identify various types of financial crimes and fraudulent activity. You will work with a Solution Architect to take customer requirements and translate them into a technical solution.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform formal reviews of project deliverables such as requirements and design documents as well as the model build.

• Collaborate with the project team to solution complex requirements that fit within the architecture and the design of FCI.

• Implement solutions that extend FCI using Java, JavaScript/jQuery and SQL.

• Profile and analyze web and application level performance tests and offer areas for improvement.

• Monitor and provide constructive feedback on partner activities to ensure visible and measurable contributions are being made during the implementation and to improve the overall quality of deliverables.

• Coordinate and communicate with customer and partner project managers and project resources

• Travel: Typically 25-30 % but may vary depending on specific project needs

Qualifications

Education

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer/Software Engineering, or related field of study.

Required Experience & Skills

• Strong business and technical communication skills (verbal and written).

• Familiar with all phases of software development with hands-on implementation, testing and deployment experience.

• Understanding of, and experience with, developing, configuring, and deploying multi-server, n-tier REST-based application architecture.

• Understanding of relational data models, RDMS, and noSQL and experience working with some combination of DB2, noSQL, Hadoop, Hive, Big Data.

• Experience and conversant working knowledge of working with applications deployed on Linux within Docker, Kubernetes, VM-based environments.

• Tools: Eclipse IDE, Putty, DataStudio/SQirl, WinSCP, MobaXterm or similar

• Operating Systems: Linux

• Web servers: IIS, Apache HTTP Server,

• Web Application Servers: Apache Tomcat, WAS Liberty,

• Practical hands-on experience with: Java, JavaScript/jQuery, SQL, J2EE, JSON, DOJO, CSS, Graf , XML, HTML, SOAPUI or similar.

• Understanding of Data Modeling concepts, methodologies and processes.

Nice-to-have’s

• Project related experience with configuring applications, executing technical implementations, and technical analysis

In order to qualify for this returnship, you must have been out of the full-time workforce for a minimum of 2 years. Upon acceptance of the offer you are required to attend a 3 day orientation in Armonk, NY.
