Job Description

What You Will Get To Do:

As a Splunk Enterprise Knowledge Engineer, you will provide expertise and a specialized Splunk-related focus on enterprise-level machine data analytics supporting mission critical information systems in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Implementation and maintenance of Splunk based knowledge objects, permission configuration, and tools

  • Identification and collection of machine and non-machine data sets

  • Analysis and stewardship of Splunk Indexes holding data that spans all domains of the enterprise IT environment.

  • Collaboration with other administrators and analysts to enhance development of actionable business intelligence, troubleshoot performance issues, and combat threats

  • Work on an integrated team communicating Splunk related issues

  • Maintain compliance with security regulations and guidelines

You Will Bring These Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years demonstrated experience with engineering, deploying, maintaining and utilizing the most recent Splunk releases

  • Minimum 1 year demonstrated experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud Services

  • Demonstrate expertise with Linux systems, ability to create new accounts, assign permissions, install/start/stop services, as needed, and maintain configuration using tools, including Git, Splunk deployment server, and Ansible

  • Demonstrate knowledge of Regular Expression, Splunk SPL, Syslog, Python, T-SQL, DNS, DHCP, and file storage technologies

  • Experience creating new data feeds for ingestion

  • Experience using DBX and DBXConnect

  • Knowledge of UF and HF installation and configuration of Indexers

  • Ability to research and clearly articulate (both verbally and in writing) recommended solutions

  • Demonstrate aptitude for analytical thinking, problem solving, and working multiple tasks concurrently

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

You will have one of the following:

  • 12 Years of job related experience and High School/GED diploma

  • 10 Years of job related experience and Associate degree

  • 8 Years of job related experience and Bachelor’s degree

  • 6 Years of job related experience and Master’s degree

  • 4 Years of job related experience and Doctorate

These Qualifications Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Experience with Splunk’s Enterprise Security (ES) and IT Service Intelligence (ITSI) apps

  • Experience using command-line interfaces, scripting (PowerShell and Python), and queries (T-SQL)

  • Familiarity with Apache NiFi

  • Familiarity with Jenkins and Ansible

  • Experience with F5 and AWS network load balancers

  • Task automation via BASH, Python, Rest, PowerShell, and Ansible

  • Familiarity with physical and virtual server architectures and network fundamentals

  • LDAP/PKI experience is a plus

  • Demonstrate experience with Incident Management, Change Management, and Problem Management business processes (experience in the customer environment preferred)
