Verizon Senior Network Engineering and Operations Manager in Richardson, Texas
What you’ll be doing...
The Senior Network Engineering and Operations Manager will be responsible for leading a small team focused on the circuit turn up, provisioning, and capacity management of Verizon's backbone SubCable network.
Capacity management of backbone / SubCable network outside of 48 United States and Europe including design assessments and implementation, optimization, Pro-Active and Re-Active adjustments, and restoration.
Develop circuit designs both On-net and Off-net, negotiate Off-net capacity with carriers, respond to internal / external customer inquiries, coordinate across Verizon toward full circuit design.
Implement circuit designs On-net and Off-net, secure Off-net capacity, liaison with other Verizon groups for inclusive design, provision layer I circuits, coordinate xconnects, testing, and turn-up.
Manage lease and IRU portfolio, establish and drive set savings objective annually, achieve through negotiation of reduced rates and optimization efforts.
Lead employees to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, and objective.
Ensure delays in deliverables / expectations are addressed and properly escalated for resolution.
Establish and communicate clear job expectations.
Plan, monitor and appraise job results.
Coach, counseling, and disciplining employees.
Develop, coordinate, and enforce systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
Establish strategic goals by gathering pertinent business, financial, and service information.
Evaluate results, identify trends, and business changes, consider fresh alternatives.
Solidify course of action, define plan, gain necessary adoption, and implement.
Drive to meet demands, with clear communication if shortcomings from expectations.
Analyze and resolve customer / delivery problems.
Recommend support, process, and system improvements to improve customer experience.
Establish and maintain relevant controls / data reports to monitor progress.
Drive feedback and corrective actions to enhance speed, quality, efficiency, and output.
Plan, evaluate, and improve the efficiency of business processes and procedures.
Evaluate systems and business changes for impacts with pro-active involvement in solutions.
Establish internal and external stakeholder reviews for actions, progress, ideas, and opportunities.
Partner with stakeholders regularly to review network plans, designs, and implementation.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Even better if you have:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other technical discipline.
Seven or more years of experience in a Technical Management role with direct employee supervision.
Ability to lead and develop team of ten or more Engineers.
Strong leader, able to challenge the status quo and a seasoned team when necessary.
Experienced setting organizational objectives, strategy, and direction in evolving business environment.
Ability to focus onsuccessful delivery and execution.
Strong collaboration experience, ability to work differences, foster teamwork, and establish single direction.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including ability to conduct research and analyze data.
Strong verbal and written communication.
Third party negotiating, preference with Telecom carriers.
Network design with preference Telecom Layer I Transport.
Development / review of contracts and service order documents.
Proficient skills in Microsoft office Excel and PowerPoint.
