Your Responsibilities May Include:
Builds and troubleshoots industrial equipment networks including twisted pair hardwire and fiber optic type data transmission media, also includes SCADA and third party interfaces with the industrial equipment network, including but not limited to FT10, Modbus and Ethernet schemes. Managed network experience preferred.
Organizes and plans work, works within time constraints of customer and company quotation guidelines.
Works independently with no supervision. Works as lead technician on larger jobs, scheduling and supervising other technicians.
Authors and transmits daily detailed job reports. Maintains asbuilt drawing sets for job records.
Field engineers and implements changes to wiring, componentry, and/or software programs as required to effect system repairs and/or modifications.
Commissions, troubleshoots, repairs, maintains, tests, and upgrades industrial power switchgear and associated PT’s, CT’s, breakers, controls, protective relays, and associated battery systems and auxiliary equipment.
Travels as required within US and Caribbean as needed.
Skill Level A
Ability to train Service Personnel to develop their diagnostic skills
Able to identify opportunities for work process improvements and recommend appropriate action
Able to develop and maintain productive working relationships
Ability to prepare reports providing feedback on service interventions
Able to understand and follow the Technical Support Request ((TSR) process
Skill Level B
Skill Level A plus:
Ability to identify and resolve engine system failures relating to and impacted by component failure
Ability to guide / coach other service technicians (including customer and/or dealer technicians) through complex service interventions and diagnostic issues
Can resolve complex technical problems
Ability to identify and up sell further service and repair opportunities
Education, Licenses, Certifications
Apprentice Certified Power Generation/ Electrical Technician (Preferred)
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
Current relevant electrical certification
Locally valid driving permit
Significant field service work experience
Expert level knowledge of and/or experience with Power Generation Products
High Voltage / Low Voltage experience
Customer service experience
Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)
Prefer minimum 5 years experience in testing, repairing, and modifying large scale (>1,000 kw) generator sets, automatic transfer switches, and associated auxiliary components and control systems.
Minimum 5 years experience in preventive maintenance, testing, repairing, and modifying electrical switchgear to include paralleling generator applications and generator to utility paralleling applications
