We have an excellent opportunity for a Purchasing Buyer at our Ridgefield, Washington facility. This position performs all aspects of procurement activities by placing purchase orders (POs) for raw materials, packaging materials, and supplies for the plant utilizing established systems, policies, and procedures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), company policies, safety policies and practices, quality standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Performs purchasing activities involved with procuring goods, such as raw materials, packaging materials, and supplies for the plant.
Avoids participation with the sourcing of materials/vendors, contracting with vendors, or attending trade shows which are handled exclusively by corporate procurement and corporate Research & Development (R&D).
Utilizes Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system to process purchase requisitions and POs based on system driven demand and maintains inventory at levels required to support production while maintaining those levels in alignment with corporate inventory targets.
Provides vendors with materials forecasts on a weekly basis.
Reviews POs for exceptions, estimated delivery dates, and quantity variances on a regular basis to ensure on time and accurate delivery of materials.
Works with vendors, planning, and corporate procurement as needed regarding expediting materials, updating PO delivery dates, and updating PO quantities.
Maintains item master data for plant-controlled fields and partners with corporate teams to determine minimum order quantities, reorder points, safety stock, order frequency, and targeted days of supply.
Ensures all information/permissions needed to release materials for use is complete and in place in the computer system with sufficient lead time so production is not impacted.
Reviews materials on a regular basis to ensure they are in the proper system status for use or discontinuation depending on their life cycle phase.
Resolves defective or unacceptable goods or services with quality systems personnel, users, vendors, corporate purchasing, and others to determine root cause and corrective action to maintain the integrity of the Supply Chain.
Assists Materials Supervisor and Accounts Payable in reconciling and approving invoices for payment as needed.
Monitors and tracks inventory records weekly against corporate inventory level targets.
Maintains clerical records as needed containing information that is critical to the performance of applicable duties and responsibilities.
Advises/coordinates samples and the release of materials for Release to Manufacture (RTM) and Release to Ship (RTS) approvals with plant and corporate departments.
Attends and participates in meetings as required in multiple formats across multiple cross-functional groups/teams.
Performs ad hoc analyses upon request.
Fulfills additional sample requests as needed.
May cross-train in supply/production planning as a back-up.
Performs other related duties as required.
The successful candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED plus an Bachelor Degree and/or equivalent combination of experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the job. MS Office Suite fluency and a high degree of organization, time management, prioritization, detail, and precision are required. Experience with lean manufacturing; in a supply chain purchasing, planning, packaging, or manufacturing role; using Agile, SAP, MRP, and WMS; working with corrugate or label/shrink sleeve manufacturers, vendors, terminology, etc. is preferred.

Ability to work onsite in a standard office setting, use standard office equipment, and wear applicable personal protective equipment during occasional visits to the manufacturing, packaging, warehouse, and shipping areas where there is potential exposure to non-toxic dust; maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; and lift/carry up to 25 pounds.
