We are currently looking for a Software Asset Manager who will be part of the P&T Services & Operations Management (PT SOM) organization in IT Services and Operations (ITSO). The purpose of PT SOM is to operate the Technical IT scope by delivering differentiating IT capabilities (products & services), thus supporting technology development, application and deployment as a major competitive advantage for Shell. The "Landscape" element emphasizes that infrastructure, applications and data management practices are managed in an integrated fashion to effectively support the business workflows.

What’s the role?

As a Software Asset Manager, you will be supporting the license management & compliance process to ensure efficient & compliant use of software applications in line with vendor contracts. This is an assurance role which has a value protection dimension for Shell from a reputational as well as financial perspective.

You will be collaborating with portfolio managers as well as with business stakeholders to identify improved value positions based on current license utilization, as well as reduced risk position, based on improved control processes.

Also, you will be accountable for the License Management environment, it is essential to ensure contract terms and licensing processes are aligned, and tooling continues to meet the needs of the business, end users, agreements made and data policies. In addition, you will be responsible for licensing out Shell software to other 3rd parties.

Having access to internal and NOV license usage, you will be the single source of truth for the consumption and thus cost recovery set in place for technical applications. Therefore, a close and frequent collaboration with the recovery team is required. The same information is used by Technology Opportunity Managers who monitor usage of technical applications for their platforms. This information is also the basis for analytics which evolve towards more detailed levels of license features rather than only application level.

Your key accountabilities for this role include:

  • Guide licensing analysts to manage application controls, in line with contracts terms and financials and ensure contract obligations, and authorized thresholds for usage, time and financials are met.

  • Manage Application Licenses throughout lifecycle ensuring processes and tooling are aligned to business needs and data policies.

  • Advise and support several portfolio managers on contract renewal and opportunities to optimize, consolidate and improve vendor contracts and license process & tooling and to align with Shell’s contract & procurement and portfolio management guidelines and to achieve efficiency gains.

  • Take accountability for compliance and validation to ensure compliance with contractual requirements and IT security, support processes and that products are integrated in the technical applications landscapes.

  • Manage license entitlements and ensure licenses are made available to end-users in accordance with contractual requirements.

  • Execute timely updates of license keys as well as payments on behalf of portfolio managers and application owners.

  • Provide regular reports to PT SOM landscape managers, portfolio managers, recovery team and PT SOM leadership team.

  • Oversee vendor deliveries and activities related to contract entitlements fulfillment and successful license and contract management processes.

What we need from you?

We’re keen to hear from IT professionals who have a bachelor’s or master’s degree preferably related to Information Technology or any related degree. Beyond that, we'd hope to see as many of the following as possible on your CV:

  • Significant relevant contract & license management and analysis experience

  • Demonstrated experience in service management and/or delivery of projects/programs

  • Demonstrated experience working in an Agile team/workflow (Kanban)

  • Demonstrated experience interpreting & understanding legal/contractual positions

  • Experience in working with business stakeholders to ensure capabilities meet the business needs

  • Strong analytical skillset, with experience visualizing data for stakeholder consumption

  • Strong stakeholder, interpersonal relationship, and negotiation skills

  • Experience of working in a global virtual team environment
