The Business Development Deal Lead (DL) will be responsible for the delivery of a new business development project from assess through deal closure or handover to the Upstream or Integrated Gas line of business/implementation manager. The DL will be responsible for leading and supporting multi-disciplinary project teams in pursuit of these opportunities. The DL will manage all internal and external interfaces associated with the project.
Leading projects through Shell’s internal approval process.
Managing cross-discipline project teams including resourcing and staff management. This involves Shell commercial skill pool members, along with supporting Economic, Tax, Investment Finance, Legal and Technical staff, as needed.
Managing project timelines and project management of opportunities.
Evaluation of potential opportunities within the assigned project with respect to potential value, probability of success, time frame and required resources.
Utilization of (and contributing to developing) best-practices in opportunity delivery across Shell, including appropriate participation in projects by technical, commercial, legal, HSSE, financial and corporate functions.
Leadership of assurance activities and HSSE through the project until project execution/implementation.
Data gathering and review of all relevant HSSE, technical, commercial, legal, fiscal, political and organizational aspects. Preparation and presentation of internal mandates and notes for information and engagement around these items.
Where appropriate, develop competitor and partnering strategies
Responsible for overall commercial integrity, contributing to best practice sharing and continuous improvement of new business processes, ensuring proper documentation and reporting of activities, adherence to established internal controls / mandates and provision of advice to IG and UI Lines of Business.
Lead negotiations and conclude deal (including any appropriate agreements).
Stakeholder management: to effectively liaise with multiple internal and external contacts in the definition and pursuit of opportunities and proposals across business/country/regional boundaries.

Must have legal authorization to work in Brazil without sponsorship.
Must be fluent in Portuguese (written and oral).
Minimum 10 years of relavant experience or 5 years minimum experience in Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) in the Oil & Energy (or related) industry.
Must have a strong understanding of the Brazilian commercial environment and Brazilian energy industry.
Must understand gas to power value chains, especially in Brazil and/or Latin America.
Knowledge and affinity for the identification and management of non- technical risks.
In depth knowledge of industry legal and commercial frameworks, controls framework and valuation methodology.
Credible senior professional with proven track record in transaction delivery with both technical and commercial Upstream experience, given the likely complexities of opportunities.
Externally focused with extensive experience in stakeholder management with a demonstrated ability to influence and motivate others.
Culturally sensitive and ability to build good relationships.
Significant negotiation skills.
Strong personal drive for delivery.
Resilience and perseverance whilst dealing with uncertain timelines.
Strong ability to integrate commercial, technical and legal.
Successful leadership of virtual teams.
