Position Summary: The position of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist performs quality studies and reporting for Hospital and medical staff services. In addition, the CDI Specialist position performs clinical investigations and studies as directed by the Director of Case Management. The position collects and analyzes data related to the physician practices for credentialing information. The Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist facilitates the peer review process assuring timely processing of cases. Reports To : Director, Case Management Supervises : None
CDI Specialist FT/ Days Rotating Weekends Clinical Documentation
Position Requirements: Licensure/ Certification/Registration:
Current California RN License or RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CDIP required. Education:
BSN from accredited school or university preferred. Experience:
RN, 3 years acute care nursing experience with charge nurse or equivalent preferred.
Non-RN, Inpatient coding experience required. Special Qualifications :
Knowledge of nursing process
MS Office; Advanced PC skills
Knowledge of care delivery documentation and related medical record documents.
Working knowledge of reimbursement systems and regulatory coding systems (e.g. ICD-9CM, HCPCSA, MS-DRGs).
