Basic Functions Responsible for the efficient operation of CES and the implementation of assistance and instruction programs for Communications Electronics (COMMEL) equipment. Program work schedules based on actual and projected support requirements.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

A. Duties/responsibilities:

  1. Manages all radio communication equipment acquisition, installation, and repair support to the Office of the Program Manager (OPM) and Vinnell Arabia throughout Saudi Arabia.

  2. Provide radio communication usage advice to senior leadership of OPM and Vinnell Arabia.

  3. Performs highly technical and engineering-related planning that includes analyzing, developing, and implementing solutions for the installation, maintenance, repair, and modification of a variety of communication equipment. This includes vehicular and portable radio systems as well as fixed station equipment such as antenna systems, communications towers, repeaters, and base stations.

  4. Coordinates/ensures necessary repair parts and materials are available prior to work entering the repair sections.

  5. Prepares a variety of required reports and records.

  6. Receipts and accounts for all property allocated to the CES from OPM and Vinnell Arabia.

  7. Responsible for the quality of service or product in-process under the management, in accordance with approved plans, SOP, and standards. Ensures safety procedures and precautions are followed.

  8. Develops maintenance programs procedure for OPM and Vinnell Arabia; provides assistance, as required.

  9. On call 24-hours a day to provide radio communications repair support.

B. Independence: Acts under general supervision of the Senior Manager, SD. Performs to most extent under own responsibility.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Five (5) personnel.

Minimum Qualifications

A. Education Level: A Bachelor Degree in Electronic/Information Technology preferred. Project Management experience is desired.

B. Experience: Eight years supervisory experience in industrial/military electronic maintenance. Technical training in electronics and communications maintenance management procedures. Minimum ten years as technician.

C. Specific knowledge, skill, ability, requirements: Knowledge of policies, principles, techniques, methods, test equipment, and tools used in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of communications systems and other associated electronic equipment. Knowledge of the capabilities, limitations, operations, characteristics, and functional use of a variety of equipment, specifically; GE and Ericsson mobile radios, Harris HF radio systems, and a variety of Motorola products including; mobile/portable radios, repeaters, base stations, digital encryption, and programming. Knowledgeable of antenna systems and their proper installation and maintenance. Skilled at problem solving; anticipates, identifies, and resolves project risks. Provides technical product expertise to the extended enterprise (suppliers, customers, and other divisions). Must possess a valid driver’s license.
