Basic Functions Assists in the management of staff and unit training support plus exercise support for Ministry of the National Guard (MNG) units with emphasis in Maneuver. Assists in the planning, coordination and supervision of collective training support for three Mechanized Infantry Brigades.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

A. Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Mentor and Train Brigade and Battalion S3/CDR in areas of Maneuver, Fires, and Mobility/Counter-mobility/Survivability.

  2. Plans, prepares, executes and assesses maneuver and staff training: act as Exercise Director and/or Brigade Commander Mentor/Trainer.

  3. Assists Brigade and Battalion S3s with the train up and preparation phases of FTX/STXs, and Training and Evaluation Programs.

  4. Mentor and Train Brigade and Battalion S3s in training management.

  5. Assists Brigade and Battalion S3s in constructing training plans.

  6. Possess knowledge in the Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP).

  7. Be knowledgeable of War Fighting Functions (WFF).

  8. Be able to make sound decisions with little guidance or instructions.

  9. Possess the ability work well with higher-grade officers to include those at the General level.

  10. Be able to create and execute high-level briefings.

  11. Be proficient in Computer Assisted Command Post Exercises (CPX) and skilled in Battle Staff Training (BST) at all levels.

  12. Manages three functional training teams (Gunnery & Tactics, Indirect Fires, and Combat Engineers) comprised of twelve U.S. Trainers, one Senior Linguistic Specialist, three Linguistic Specialists, and Nine Interpreter/Translator.

  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

B. Independence: Under general direction, performs within broad objectives with significant choice of methods; frequently develops methods to achieve desired results.

C. SC. Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages three functional training teams (Gunnery & Tactics, Indirect Fires, and Combat Engineers) comprised of U.S. Trainers, and Saudi Arabian Linguistic Specialists and Interpreter/Translators.

Minimum Qualifications

A. Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred. CGSC/ILE Graduate required, War College Graduate highly preferred.

B. Experience: Former Major required, Lieutenant Colonel or higher preferred. 20+ years operations and training experience in US Army or Marine Corps maneuver units required; majority mechanized/motorized infantry or armor experience preferred. Former Battalion Operations Officer/S3 required; former Brigade/Regimental Operations Officer/S3 preferred; former Battalion Commander highly preferred. Extensive Training Management and Leader Development Experience required. Extensive MDMP/MCPP experience required. Former Observer/Controller/Trainer (O/C/T) or Small Group Instructor experience preferred; Combat Training Center O/C/T experience as a field grade officer highly preferred. Recent combat experience preferred.

C. Specific knowledge, skill, ability, and requirements: Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Ability to work in and adjust to the customs and courtesies of the Host Nation Country. Windows & MS Office Suite Programs proficient. Possess a valid driver’s license.
