Basic Functions Performs maintenance and repair on the Ministry of the National Guard (MNG) Light Armored Vehicles (LAV). Assists in the development and execution of Equipment Training programs.

Major Duties and Responsibilities ​A. Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Applies diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques to determine cause or causes of malfunction, extent of corrective adjustments and repair procedures.

  2. Repairs and adjust hydraulic, mechanical and electrical/electronic armament sub-systems.

  3. Performs diagnostic tests to ensure equipment is functioning within prescribed limits and tolerances.

  4. Conducts maintenance assistance and instruction programs for MNG personnel.

  5. Identifies and submits requirements for repair parts.

  6. Provides LAV turret OJT training to MNG soldiers.

  7. Maintains records, prepares and submits required reports.

  8. Monitors and leads others in shop workflow.

  9. Provides technical assistance to MNG units, as required.

  10. Perform other duties as required

B. Independence: Acts under the supervision of the Supervisor, LAV Automotive Section

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises up to five (5) Assistant Trainers, LAV Automotive Maintenance

Minimum Qualifications

A. Education Level: High School graduate. Service/Technical School graduate or Military Technical Training in diesel powered heavy equipment or diesel maintenance preferred.

B. Experience: A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in heavy equipment maintenance or turreted armament repair systems or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

C. Specific knowledge, skill, ability, requirement: Knowledge of standards, principles and techniques of diagnostics, troubleshooting and knowledge of shop safety requirements. Possess a valid driver's license
