Basic Functions

Conducts Fire Support training from individual through brigade levels. Prepares and conducts training assistance programs in the area of fire support and execution. Evaluates the conduct of tactical and live fire training.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

A. Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Conducts and oversees preparation, review and refinement of lesson plans, audio/visual presentations and all other training material using Microsoft Office Suite. Employs an Interpreter/Translator (I/T) in these duties to ensure linguistic accuracy, technical relevance, and cultural sensitivity of materials.

  2. Routinely rehearses training presentations with an I/T, integrating assigned equipment to ensure proper execution of training classes and practical exercises.

  3. Supervises acquisition, set up, and recovery of training resources without loss or damage using assigned equipment and coordinates with appropriate team and support personnel in a timely manner.

  4. Instructs Ministry of the National Guard (MNG) Soldiers in a classroom or field environment with an I/T and appropriate training aids.

  5. Prepares, maintains and submits training related reports, evaluations and other information with assigned equipment as prescribed.

  6. Assumes additional roles assisting and administering logistics coordination, maintenance oversight, and team representation as assigned.

  7. Assumes the responsibility of a Chief Trainer Fire Support when necessary through proper preparation resulting in no loss of team operational capability.

  8. Prepares and executes oral and written After Action Reviews.

B. Independence: Works under close supervision of the Chief Trainer Fires.

C. Supervisory Responsibilities:One Interpreter Translator.

Minimum Qualifications

A. Education Level: High School Diploma. 13F Advanced Leaders/Basic Non-Commissioned Officers Course graduate required. Senior Leaders / Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer Course graduate preferred. Army Basic Instructor Course graduate preferred. An equivalent combination of college courses and military training may be substituted.

B. Experience:Eight years’ experience in operations, training and leader development. Experience in battalion and brigade fire support operations. Experience in the use of applicable simulators and training devices. Previous Combat Training Center or operational deployment experience preferred. Combination of military and jobsite experience may be substituted.

C. Specific knowledge, skill, ability, requirements: Small Group Instructor Training Course qualified preferred. Joint Fires Observer or Joint Firepower Course preferred. Knowledge of current fire support tactics, training, doctrine, and thorough understanding of the Military Decision Making Process (MDMP). Must have excellent organizational skills and communicative skills, both verbally and writing, advanced understanding of Microsoft Office programs; excellent analytical skills; good interpersonal skills; demonstrated capability to work in a challenging, multi-cultural environment, and be able to interact with U.S. Army and MNG soldiers. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Former Staff Sergeant required; Former Sergeant First Class or above preferred.
