Oracle Product Manager | Opower in Rocklin, California

Work as part of a team that acts as the central resource and driving force for the design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing of product(s) as they move from conception to distribution. Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget.

As a member of the product development division, you will define product specifications and or strategy. Gather and analyze information to define product specifications and review design specifications. Communicate product strategy and functionality. Initiate and foster relationships with other groups. Review product documentation and collateral. Ensure successful product releases based on corporate priorities.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex, needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

This is a remote/office based position which may be performed anywhere in the United States except for within the state of Colorado.

We are seeking a product manager with passion for technology, sustainability and energy to bring her/his unique talents to our team. As a Senior Product Manager, you’ll work with an amazingly talented and dedicated cross-functional team including design, engineering, client success, sales, and more. You'll have end-to-end ownership of your product space, and be responsible for strategy, execution, and go-to-market coordination for the next generation of Opower products. You will contribute to the success and vision of our market-leading solution, reaching millions of people across the globe.

What You’ll Make Happen

  • Meet with and learn from employees of utilities around the world about their business and the challenges they face.

  • Go deep on Opower and Oracle Utilities products, technologies and behavioral science fundamentals.

  • Contribute to the vision, strategy and roadmap for Opower products

  • Work closely with UX researchers and designers to understand and articulate the needs of utilities’ customers and to design products that are well understood and delightful to use.

  • Brainstorm with engineers to identify the best technical approach. Review technical design documents and architecture and participate in technical demos.

  • Work closely with sales and client success teams to drive adoption of our products.

  • Identify opportunities for new initiatives, and develop business plans, product plans, and success metrics to make the case for investment.

  • Demonstrate outstanding product design and technical decisions.

  • Actively manage projects cross-functionally to ensure successful outcomes.

About You

  • 1 years as a Product Manager or 3 years of related professional experience

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills tailored for a wide variety of audiences.

  • Eager to learn continuously – about new technologies, products, industry trends and more

  • Fantastic analytical skills: ability to solve problems quickly, establish frameworks, think on your feet and generalize solutions

  • Passion for technology, sustainability and /or energy

  • Understand the importance of prioritization to build an impactful product that moves metrics.

  • Experience leading collaborative workshops with internal and external stakeholders with a wide range of expertise.

  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.

  • The following are not requirements, but are beneficial for this role:

o Degree in computer science, engineering or related technical degree.

o Background in energy, utilities, psychology, or design.

o Experience managing software projects and engineering teams through various cycles of product management planning and implementation. Experience with Agile a plus.
