SUMMARY:

The US Foods Summer Internship Program provides a forum for students to apply classroom skills and academic training in a real world business environment. In addition to being assigned business-impacting projects throughout the summer, students will be matched with a manager who will meet with them on a regular basis to provide direction on assignments as well as deliver performance feedback and a mentor who will be available to offer day-to-day guidance and support.

Interns will also get exposure to US Foods executive leadership; have an opportunity to participate in learning and social events with other interns across business functions within our Corporate HQ; and have an opportunity to deliver an end-of-summer presentation to showcase their accomplishments with key business leaders.

US Foods internships are full-time paid positions (40 hours per week from May - August) with the possibility of transitioning to a full-time position post-graduation dependent on availability and overall performance.

• US Foods manages a portfolio of over 25 exclusive private label brands – from our premium Stock Yard steaks, to our popular Devonshire sweets, serving over 250,000 restaurants and foodservice operators across the country.

• This position will support the marketing efforts for our private label (EB) brands. This includes industry and competitive research, product positioning, pricing and general marketing/awareness building through our traditional and digital outlets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research key industry trends in order to identify and source new and effective marketing and communications deliverables.

  • Monitors and reports-out on private label best practices from within and beyond our industry.

  • Oversee the gathering of research on competitive private-label brands. Conducts analysis and reviews of the brands, competitive, category, customer and diner trends to enhance the brand’s equity and marketplace performance.

  • Helps to plan, organize, manage and coordinate elements of our EB brand strategy and promotional efforts.

  • Analyze and gain direct customer and sales feedback including direct customer research, face to face meetings and customer collaboration in order to effectively steer relevant marketing initiatives.

  • Monitor, measure and report key metrics of the program.

  • Collects, analyzes, summarizes and reports field input concerning our exclusive brand programs.

  • Performs other duties as assigned including customer service activities, sales and ops support, running reports etc.

  • Attend weekly Marketing staff meetings.

Please note: we are not able to provide internships to students that require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B visa status).

Local candidates are encouraged to apply. For qualified students whose permanent home of record is located outside 50 miles from US Foods Corporate HQ, a stipend will be offered to partially offset housing costs for the summer.

Qualifications-

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Marketing or a related field

  • Must be enrolled in school during time of internship

  • Typically, students currently between their Junior and Senior years or between their 1st and 2nd years of graduate school will be considered for internships

  • Must be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

  • Effective communicator, both written and oral

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have regular, reliable method of transportation to commute to US Foods’ location

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications is a plus

  • Self-motivated, positive attitude, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
