AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Structural Engineer for immediate employment at a client site in Rosslyn, VA. Under the DOS overseas building program, the size of various building units ranges from staff apartments and consular office buildings, to large construction projects such as New Embassy/Consulate compounds. Design work associated with these projects is characterized by addressing changing physical environments and safety and security concerns. The construction costs of these projects may range from approximately $100,000 to $500,000,000.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Provide structural design advice and assistance regarding site selection, design, drawings, and specifications for overseas facilities for which the State Department is responsible (including embassies, consulates, senior officers’ residences, staff quarters, and special use structures) whether owned, leased, renovated or newly constructed projects
Provide a wide range of professional structural engineering services and technical consultation for the delivery of safe, secure, and fully functional facilities at overseas diplomatic posts throughout the world
Apply accepted conventional design methods and solutions
Apply the latest design methodologies and theories to novel problem solving situations not readily resolved through accepted conventional methods
Contribute and affect the content, interpretation, or development of design policies concerning varied design and construction projects
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
10+ years of experience in structural design of buildings
Professional Engineer License
Mastery of theories, principles, practices, and methodologies of civil (structural/seismic/geotechnical) engineering, including applicable engineering codes and consumer statutes and regulations
Working knowledge of related building engineering disciplines, including civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical
Must be available for overseas travel - normal required travel is up to two weeks.
Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
Ability to obtain Secret clearance
15+ years of Experience
AutoCAD, Revit, blast design experience
